Poetry
Ode to my Past Lovers
For every part of you left in me — A poem
Pure joy
Sweet joy
Just joy
I feel.
Oh Lovers of mine
Past, present, and future
Your every etch in my sketch
of life
Has made me the lover,
the giver
I am right now.
You have helped me
unknowingly,
To define my desires
For monogamy
polyamory.
My sexuality
no longer defined
By causality.
So now,
I know what I do want
and I know what I don’t want.
From each of you
has birthed a part of me
that specifies
my desirability
for that rare kind of man —
or woman
no judgment,
just love.
Oh lovers of mine,
I bless you all
for the knowing
That is now mine
clearly defined
And outlined
For Universal Forces
To deliver
To me
Sheer ecstasy.
That one desire
Or those many desires
that fulfills
that longing,
completing the part of me
left open by each departure from me
of you and you and you.
So I can only appreciate
in retrospect,
our connections,
interactions.
The love that we shared
the passion we laid bare,
when our inner and outer parts
met in that universal dance
of love or lust
and desire
and passion.
Martyrdom.
Promising to have and to hold
and on that we were sold
into the slavery
of monogamy.
Trapped for earth’s eternity
growing restless
and listless
Tangled in ties that bind.
So the sexual me
Was never allowed to be
Polysexual
Pansexual
Sapiosexual
Defined yet undefined.
