October Memoir Prompt: The Storm

Tell us about the time a storm hit your life…literally or figuratively

Welcome to October, Memoirists.

With love and respect to those who live on the east coast of the United States, I couldn’t help but think of The Storm as a topic for October. If you were affected by Hurricane Ian, or have friends or family who were, my thoughts are with you.

Storms can affect our lives in many ways and can take shape in various forms. They can be literal — hurricanes, tornadoes, thunder, blizzards, etc. — and they can also take on different meanings: internal storms, the storm someone created in your life, your ex that you and your friends have nicknamed “The Storm,” the aftermath of an action you didn’t realize was a “storm” at the time.

I think we have all faced a storm of one kind or another throughout our lives — I think we’ve all faced several.

Here are the guidelines for this month’s prompt:

• “Storm” can take on any meaning that fits you and your story.
• Please tag your story “the storm”
