Oasis
Poem based on the prompt Eudaimonia
Turquoise sky, kiss my cheek upon the red rocks where I lay, sunshine glimmers off the cool, clear water, diamond sparkles play for my eyes, for my skin, for the tranquility I find in a desert oasis, a soundtrack of wind, unmarred by the presence of humankind.
Unmoored soul in transcendent luster, blissful and unchained, free in the vast expanse, space enough to grow and discover where it is that the soul needs to be, captive of the cliffs, mesas, bleeding streams, vermillion dirt, tumbleweeds. Serenity in the rapturous grip of worldly isolation.

I’d like to thank Joanna Vang for inviting me to partake in the “Eudaemonia” prompt from Literary Impulse and Paper Poetry. I’d also like to share this prompt with other writers, if they feel so inclined to give it a shot (and apologies if someone else has already tagged you). America Zed, Iva Hotko, J.D.
