O Dear

I can't believe this is what I see

The roads fell silent

As the lanes became clear

The school bells stopped ringing

As the children let out their last cheer

The shops became empty

As people made excess consumption clear

The once overpopulated stores

As the crowds cleared

The animals came out

As silence was near

The well-being of others

As humans had to veer

The job became lonely

As people left by year

The plans were cancelled

As a problem was here

The world stood still

O Dear

This pandemic taught me to appreciate time and to spend it with my loved ones. Life is precious and it’s important to be present and make the most of it. This poem is a reflection of what I saw and felt over the past two years.
