Nubian Queen
A poem
Once there lived in Ancient Nubia, A beautiful African queen, Shanakdakhete was her name. No king by her side, Her reign was supreme, Perhaps, the first woman to rule her lands, She was ahead of her time.
I find joy in this space, Writing words to free my mind, Sometimes they sing happy tunes, Other times I criticize, Injustice I see outside.
Recently I wrote a piece Criticizing what is remembered by history, How when certain stories are told, They seem to be carefully rearranged And only certain aspects are recalled.
But little did I know, That in the poem that I had written To lament my criticism, I had also done the same thing. Unknowingly of course, but what a blissful irony.
Thank you for reading, and thanks to Dr Mehmet Yildiz and the entire Illumination team. Dedicated to kurt gasbarra.
