Now They Are Calling Chauvin A Murderer

The guilty verdict is in

George Floyd was not an angel, but he did not deserve that treatment

People on the news shows on television have now been saying that Derek Chauvin can be called a murderer. Some people were careful in past months not to say he was a killer or murderer. He surely must not have intended for George Floyd to actually die. Chauvin seems to have been trying to assert his authority and punish Floyd without causing death. His actions may have been racially motivated, but that is uncertain.

Floyd’s passing away changed things. Chauvin ruined his life with his decision to hold his knee on Floyd’s neck for such a long time.

George Floyd was not an angel on this earth (although his family may think he was), but now he probably is one in heaven. It is not known if he knew he was using a counterfeit $20 bill or not. The owner of the store (who was not present at the time) said he knew Floyd, and he would not have called the police over the incident. An employee did call the police.

Floyd’s death sparked rallies, protests, and demonstrations throughout the United States and in some other countries. The fight for Black Lives Matter and against racism was loud and clear.

The “GUILTY” verdict on all three counts was a surprise to many people. It was a relief to many. News people and legal experts were reporting before the verdict came down that it is very difficult to get twelve people to agree on anything. The jury of twelve voted unanimously for the guilty verdict without questions for the judge or a prolonged deliberation.

The crowds of people who were shown on television at the spot where George Floyd died appeared to be mostly White people. They celebrated after the verdict was read. If it had gone the other way, there would undoubtedly have been riots and violence. The evidence was overwhelming that Chauvin caused Floyd’s death although the defense tried to say that it was caused by drugs or other medical reasons.

People who were careful not to call Chauvin a murderer are now calling him that. They say it was indeed murder. That seems to be evident.

Police are being held accountable for their actions. People who are trying to end racism and police brutality against Black people are celebrating and encouraged by the guilty verdicts.
