Nothing Beyond Your Self Respect

It was the year 2008 when I just returned home after taking the class in an Institute.
As a lecturer, the day that passed was unexpected for me.
Early in the morning when I entered the faculty cabin came to know that someone new has joined.
Out of sheer curiosity, I asked her, “Which of all subjects will you be teaching?”
Never expected such out of this world answer that she will teach the same subjects that I have been teaching.
A day before yesterday, before this event, I spoke to the Academic advisor that I want to go for half a day at work.
He agreed, and it satisfied me as we were on very good terms.
Were they looking for someone else?
Were they thinking to replace me?
What was going on?
I was in a dilemma what to do now? There is the future ahead, preparing for competitive exams.
On the other side, I could see things losing out of my hands.
The whole confusion about the things turning towards the other side and my goals were distracting me.
At 6 PM in the evening I went to speak to my friend, philosopher, and guide. I narrated the whole story to him.
Patiently he heard my story, and I found the relief because whatever was there in my mind was out.
Another very important thing was that I shared my incident with my closest person.
Every day I used to meet him between 6- 7 pm. That was the time of his walk.🚶
He was my grandfather Dr. P C. Juneja, who worked in Central Defence Accounts on the Rank of Senior Pay Accounts Officer.
He told me that “There is nothing beyond your self-respect and your goals.”
He said, “During my whole tenure as an officer I stood for my self-respect.”
Really, the words of wisdom which I still cherish always will remain with me. I miss him too much, an honored person in his and my eyes. 🗣
Such was my grandfather who taught me the meaning of the word — “SELF-RESPECT”
A lesson well learned that helped me to take the action and quit my job there and then only.
I still take pride in stating that I feel happy to take such a decision.
Whole life the practical meaning of this world self-respect will stay with me.
There are many lessons in life that he taught me. I have been revisiting his learnings.
So my message to you is…
Keep Learning!! Keep moving…!! Keep improving
