Not What We Know, But How

A poem about scientific methods

Photo by Jaredd Craig on Unsplash

do you ever wonder why certain disciplines are centered on quantitative analyses, reveling in patterns drawn from dots across a scatterplot, basing foundation on the differences found to be unlikely due to chance?

yet others draw themes from spoken and written words threading together stories more directly from the source?

I do not think that all there is to know rests on one method of learning, as the world of diversity cannot solely be diminished into one method of describing the phenomena that surrounds us.

Lucy (The Eggcademic) [she/her] spent most of her education learning only about quantitative methods (and a really specific kind of quantitative method — null hypothesis testing), to the detriment of exploring other avenues of exploring and understanding collected data. She is now diving into the rabbit hole of yet more statistics (on the quantitative side) and qualitative analyses to round out her thesis.
