Not Voting For Biden Is Not Going To Hurt Biden
You’re going to hurt the most vulnerable members of society, including Palestinians, and the planet.
The 2024 Presidential Election is going to undoubtedly be another showdown between President Joe Biden and ex-President Donald Trump.
It’s 2020 all over again, and this time, the stakes are even higher.
Think about this. How much worse do you think Trump is going to be as president the second time around knowing he was the worst president ever during his first term, lost his bid for re-election, planned an insurrection when he didn’t win, is facing 91 criminal charges, is currently on trial, and still managed to be re-elected four years later?!!
Trump, who really is the Teflon Don, and behaves as if the rules don’t apply to him with no impunity, will be the worst version of himself we’ve ever seen, and God help us all.
Let’s not forget he wants revenge on his political enemies, and will definitely seek it the moment he’s inaugurated.
Many Americans who voted for Biden in 2020 are stating they’re not going to vote for him again this year. This is for a myriad of reasons including: the Biden administration’s handling of the Israel-Hamas War, the administration’s failure to cancel student loan debt for all, the overturning of Roe v. Wade, the high expense of gas and groceries, the high interest rate on mortgages, the loss of rights for LGBTQ, and the recession it certainly feels like we’re heading into that no one will admit to. Oh, and Biden is old. Let’s not forget that.
These are extremely valid reasons — especially the U.S.’s complicity in Israel’s ongoing genocide against Palestinians. This has earned Biden the nickname of Genocide Joe. There’s no point in attempting to sugarcoat how disillusioned millions who helped to re-elect Biden have become. I understand because I am one of these people. I think there should be an immediate ceasefire, and I don’t think the Israeli government and military should have ever been allowed to commit such atrocities. Yet, it’s not wrong or inaccurate to point out that the one-sided war will get much worse if Trump is elected again. While Biden and Netanyahu are at odds, Trump and Netanyahu, who have similar personalities, were close allies during Trump’s presidency. Trump also panders to far-right Christo-fascists who are typically Zionists who always back Israel. Trump, or any Republican (Nikki Haley), will not hold Netanyahu accountable, will not push for ceasefire, will not support a two-state solution (which is an impossibility with all the land that’s been taken from Palestinians btw), and will not hesitate to send more military aid.
In fact, Haley has said, “Whatever Israel says they feel like will keep them safe, I will support.”
The former South Carolina governor does not believe Palestine is capable of governing itself (without the involvement of terrorists) and does not believe there should be a ceasefire.
Psychologically, I don’t know what exactly makes a former Biden supporter unwilling to vote for him again, and willing to throw their say-so away. It’s not a strategic choice, and it’s not a choice that makes the world any better. In fact, it’s a choice that will have dire consequences. We’ve been here before when many didn’t vote for Hillary Clinton in 2016, out of indifference or distrust, of her as a candidate. This is why we’re still dealing with Trump, and his aftermath (a conservative Supreme Court, the overturning of Roe v. Wade, the end of affirmative action, a rise in hate crimes, racism, and xenophobia, and the rise of cruel and restrictive policymaking on the state level), that will be felt for decades. I can’t fathom why anyone would be willing to experience another presidency under him. There is no endgame when you withhold your vote.
If it’s payback or punishment for Biden, he’s not going to be the person who gets hurt.
Like so many like to point out, Biden is an old man. He’s lived his life. He’s also white, male, wealthy, and protected.
I’m none of these things. Many of us aren’t.
We are the people who are going to get hurt.
A second Trump presidency will hurt BIPOC, immigrants, women, the LGBTQ, the poor and middle classes, the disabled, international relations with foreign governments, and the environment.
Trump will re-issue a Muslim Ban, detain and deport undocumented immigrants, end DEI initiatives, and enact so much cruelty it will leave many of us breathless.
Project 2025
If you haven’t heard about Project 2025, I suggest you make yourself familiar. It’s the Republican party’s plan for taking over the government if and when a Republican is elected president this year. One thing about Republicans: they stick together, they play the long-game, and they’re always strategic. Not only do they fail to criticize Trump, but they’ve found a way to integrate him into their longterm plans (of Gilead) if he happens to win the election. If one Republican wins, they all win…
As Katie Couric Media writes —
Led by the right-leaning think tank The Heritage Foundation and former Trump officials, Project 2025 is aimed at creating a “government-in-waiting” for the next Republican presidential administration, and it would centralize power in the White House by putting independent agencies like the Federal Communications Commission and the Federal Trade Commission under direct presidential control.
“Project 2025 is the brainchild of American extremists who want to convert the nation from a democracy to an autocracy,” says Guy. “The plan does this by concentrating power in the Presidency and sidelining Congress and the Judiciary. Without the President’s power being counterbalanced by Congress and courts, he will do whatever he wants, whenever he wants. He would be King, not President.”
Do we really want to allow this to happen?
