Not Dancing Today
A Wild & Wondrous Prompts Poem
In the past 2 years I have lost to death My mother, My father, And this morning, My best friend. My words do not flow freely today.
The crickets chirp. Birds sing. The sun shines. Flowers bloom In rainbows of colors. But today, The butterflies, The dragonflies, Are not joyfully Dancing with my wildflower heart.
No, on this day, My heart feels like a field Of beautiful wild daisies Drenched, dripping in weed killer, Withering in the scorching afternoon sun. But tomorrow is a new day, I know grief has a season. Despair will lessen. Depression will lift. Beauty will bring joy again. My broken heart will heal, And will dance with wildflowers once again.
