Star Week

Not a Typo

Star gazing, wondering, dreaming. A poem.

My lucky shirt — photo by author

An epic battle between rebels and an empire — but the call to stop wars on my shirt? Not a typo!

I love epic stories. Whether written by the best writers such as Rushdie and Homer, or in movie form like the Star Wars saga. Growing up in the 70s and 80s, I fondly remember going to see Return of the Jedi with my dad. But I despise wars. That’s why I love my t-shirt pictured above. (Plus, I wore it the day I met the Love of My Life!)

This poem is written for Star Week. A wonderful initiative by Jenny Justice, inspired by the Floral Week fun ignited by Tapan Avasthi. Star Week is a poetry party where poets aim to inspire hope. As Jenny puts it:

Now let’s look up — let’s dream, let’s aspire, let’s become overwhelmed with the biggest of big pictures.

Want to join the party? Read Jenny’s first Star Week poem and find the prompt at the end:

If you like this party, I recommend star gazing at these poems by Alex Kilcannon, Jack Herlocker and Chelsea Marie:

My poem is a tritriplicata. If you want to know what that is, you’ll find the answers here:
