Nostalgia
What Lingers Behind…
“Just when the caterpillar thought her life was over, she began to fly.”-Anonymous
It was nostalgia at its best, like the wind blowing through an empty bird’s nest.
You can hear the whistling of an empty tree, that stands idle while we wait and see.
It’s the changing of leaves fluttering in the air, some falling off branches and flying everywhere.
The birds chirping is faint and some have silenced now, you may be wondering why or even how.
It’s all because things change and things grow, and things shift while things slow.
That’s how I know that the changing of seasons came with a brisk beat, that raises every hair on my skin and lifts me from my seat.
As I run into the warmth or to grab another coat, just to snuggle up into a blanket, to read something another poet wrote.
And reminisce on the minds of the masters of words, That makes me dream of dreams and reminisce on those birds.
Since where did their chirping go or maybe they are saving it for spring, saving it for the coming dawn and maybe to hear its subtle ring.
It was nostalgia to remember, with the pumpkin picking and hay rides.
The apple cider and haunted houses, the happiness of grooms and brides.
There always memories to be made in the fall, to coat in fleece the end of it all.
The holiday season is at the end of the year, we’re at the end and fall is here!
So let’s enjoy the festive beat, of keeping the cool while leaving the heat.
That’s why I’ll always love the time the holidays come around.
There are so many memories to be made, and nostalgia to be found.
I love the fall holidays and I love the end of the year. It’s when the excitement comes for Halloween and Thanksgiving. The food. It’s one of my favorite times to just sit, eat, veg out on movies and relax. Enjoy the harvest and see how the earth shed its layer of leaves.
It’s hoodie season too, so I get to stay warm and snug while remaining comfortable. It’s also around the time of my birthday (October 23rd) and the anniversary I signed up for Medium which is the day before my birthday. It will be two years that day. I can’t believe how fast time moves but I’m just here to enjoy the ride. I love that I joined Medium around my birthday because it has truly become a present to me, in my life.
I hope you enjoy the poem and my little excerpt on why I wrote Nostalgia. It’s simply because this part of the year is nothing but reminiscing on the good times and making new memories, while forgetting the summer. Hope you enjoy and I hope my words leave a lasting note on you. Just wanted to say this before you go, I hope you enjoy!
