Summary

Jared Schmeck, an Oregon father, has become a symbol of right-wing victimhood after his "Let's Go Brandon" comment to President Biden during a NORAD Santa tracker call sparked controversy and backlash, leading him to align with Steve Bannon and claim persecution by the Left.

Abstract

Jared Schmeck, who gained notoriety for telling President Biden "Let's Go Brandon" during a Christmas NORAD Santa tracker call, has since positioned himself as a victim of cancel culture and leftist aggression. Initially claiming the comment was a joke, Schmeck has since backtracked, aligning with right-wing figure Steve Bannon to assert that his actions were a protest against the Biden administration, the left, and cancel culture. This incident has highlighted the phenomenon of right-wing individuals adopting a victim narrative when faced with criticism for their actions, a tactic known as DARVO (Deny, Attack, and Reverse Victim and Offender). The article draws parallels between this behavior and historical instances of victimhood being used to manipulate public sentiment, such as in Nazi Germany and under Putin's regime in Russia, suggesting that such tactics are indicative of a broader trend towards fascism within the American right wing.

Opinions

  • The author views right-wing individuals, including Schmeck, as frail, lacking critical thought, and prone to childish outbursts.
  • Schmeck's subsequent claims of being victimized by the Left are seen as a deflection from his own lack of decorum and an attempt to garner sympathy.
  • The article criticizes Schmeck for his inconsistency, initially claiming no disrespect was intended, then aligning with Bannon and framing his comment as a broader political statement.
  • The author equates the right wing's use of victimhood to manipulate public sentiment with historical fascist tactics, suggesting a dangerous trend in American politics.
  • Schmeck's behavior is likened to that of other right-wing figures who claim victimhood to avoid accountability and to rally support from their political base.
  • The author expresses concern that the tactic of claiming victimhood will intensify and potentially undermine democracy, particularly as the mid-term elections approach.

NORAD Dad Now Whining About Being Canceled by the Left

Jared Schmeck is yet one more example of the how weak and stupid right wingers really are

Jared Schmeck, the rude schmuck (sorry, I couldn’t resist) from Oregon who decided to take a memorable Christmas-y moment for his kids and make it all about his seething smallness, is now whimpering about how the Left canceled him.

The cancellation came about, it seems, because we didn’t sing in unison “Oh how so super witty and supportive of the First Amendment of you, Schmeck.”

Let’s get right to the turkey here shall we? Collectively, right-wingers are a frail bunch of humans. Stupid as hell and incapable of critical thought, they spit out comments in the way little kids do during those down moments when families get together at the holidays.

“Momma, Uncle Bill doesn’t seem to be a worthless piece of kaka like you and daddy said.” Oops, the whole family blushes and Uncle Bill awkwardly slips outside for a cigarette to the let the moment pass.

It seems dummy dad from Oregon didn’t like the way people were lashing out at him for his extremely untimely f*** off of President Biden.

Once the moment went viral on social media and sparked outrage, however, Schmeck claimed to a local Oregon newspaper that he meant “no disrespect” and that it was merely a “joke.” At the same time, he said he was “being attacked for utilizing my freedom of speech” and had received some vaguely threatening phone calls (Let’s Go Brandon).

Schmeck has every right to his opinion. The fact Schmeck is a rude schmuck does not free him from the angry, and maybe even rude, opinions of others. My patience for the lack of decorum and the desire to eradicate all moments of comity in our society by the Right is finished and so I too lashed out at Schmeck.

The thing that really gets my goat about these barely-literate shitheads is that when all snuggled up in the comfy-cozy arms of their mob, they are big tough guys. The moment, however, the get called out for their tough and rude words, the bullies melt like snowflakes on a warming windshield.

So too, Schmeck melted and tried to hide behind lies where he portrayed himself as being some all-about-Jesus-guy — poor, poor Jesus, what did He do to get saddled with these losers, right? — who really not only has no problems with Biden but even loves him!

“I understand there is a vulgar meaning to ‘Let’s go, Brandon,’ but I’m not that simple-minded, no matter how I feel about him,” Schmeck told The Oregonian on Christmas Day (Author’s comment: I am sure his wife was really happy that he was dealing with this stuff on Christmas Day, right?). He seems likes he’s a cordial guy. There’s no animosity or anything like that. It was merely just an innocent jest to also express my God-given right to express my frustrations in a joking manner… I love him just like I love any other brother or sister (Let’s Go Brandon).”

And par for course, Schmeck, a father of four who caused the shit storm of negativity over Christmas for his family, is now playing the role of poor, victimized Trumpist.

Like the mentally unstable former whiner-in-chief, and their hero, right wingers offend others with rude, and often times anti-social, behavior and then when reprimanded either cry like the wimps they really are; or, they align with the greater and dumber cause of victimhood.

Deny, Attack and Reverse Victim and Offender

Rather than just apologize for being a schmuck, Schmeck instead aligned himself with Steve Bannon. Melting as he was when he was professing love for Biden, and again pressuring poor Jesus, the incident might have blown over if dummy dad had just swallowed his pride and let the anger at him blow over.

Nope, that was not possible because the moment Herr Bannon reached out to him and offered a chance to appear on his far-right podcast hysterically called “Real America’s Voice,” the “good-natured” Jared Schmeck showed up with is MAGA dunce cap claiming that he didn’t offend the president because he wasn’t speaking with the president. His president, it turns out, is the Dr. Zeus look-alike, Trump.

To further add to his sense of victimhood, and to fully play by the rules of the the DAVRO (deny, attack and reverse victim and offender), Schmeck told the creepy and crusty Bannon:

“‘Let’s Go Brandon’ is more than just ‘F Joe Biden.’ ‘Let’s Go Brandon’ encompasses the entirety of our frustration with Joe Biden, the administration, the leftist mob, the cancel culture, the mainstream media,” he insisted. “They’re the ones who made this a thing (Let’s Go Brandon).”

Wow! So, all the rigmarole about how Jared ended his phone call with POTUS was not because he was unable to be a respectful and loving grown man, after all. Jared Schmeck acted like a schmuck because we, the anti-Trumpists, loyalists to the US Constitution and proponents of our nation’s 245 years of peaceful transfers of power, drove him to act that way.

Rather than accept blame for anything they do, they turn around and accuse those blaming them of creating the problem (The Conservative Urge to be a Victim).

In case you don’t know the history of how the Nazis rose to power, I will sum up tens of thousands of pages of some really amazing books written on the subject: They blamed the collapse of Germany at the end of World War I on a Jewish-led conspiracy determined to enslave racially pure Germans. Victimhood was manipulated masterfully and a lot of Germans, feeling insecure due to economic chaos of the 1920’s, took to Hitler’s calls of murderous hatred and voila, Nazi Germany happened.

In case you don’t know how Putin has stunted the intellectual and economic growth of Russia since his rise to power in 2000, let me sum it all up for you based on my twenty-six years of living in Russia: Russia is never responsible for anything bad that happens to it. Anyone, always some unseen enemy, is the nefarious force behind virtually every single bad thing that happens (has happened) in Russia. Many Russians blame the US for their seventy years of communism.

Putin is using this same line of lies and BS today to get his country ready for a potential invasion of Ukraine.

Hitler and Putin are fascists dictators of differing degrees, obviously. The entirety of the right wing in America today, and now Jared Schmeck, march to the beats of the historically-constructed fascist drums. There is even an odder element about the victimized bully syndrome (VBS) and DAVRO. The more ridiculous and unbelievable the lie about how they are being victimized, the more efficiently the lie bonds to reality to become the “new truth.”

Jared Schmeck, like the poor, little victimized Kyle Rittenhouse (the thing is, the right really is victimizing his youth and naivete for their own purposes), and like all right-wingers around the nation being “forced” to wear masks or get vaccines, is just another symptom of the problems we face entering 2022. He also demonstrates to me how easily, and effortlessly, anyone can be pulled over to the side of the America-haters.

Mark my words, this victim thing is only going to get more ridiculous and more farfetched as we get closer to the mid-terms; and then, they will use their collective status as “woe as me” to end our democracy once and for all.

Alarmist? Nope, history-read realist, absolutely.
