2022 WRITING PROMPT JOURNEY

Non-Fiction Writing Prompts – Week Five

Prompts for January 29th to February 4th

The journey has just begun, but look how far we’ve come!

Give yourselves all a round of applause for making your writing and creativity a priority this year! (I know I’ve been applauding every time I see one more of your posts linked in the comments).

Whether you write/post once a week, or once a month, every success is worth celebrating!

It is officially Week Five of our Writing Journey, and your three new Non-Fiction Prompts await you below. I hope they bring you inspiration and enjoyment!

While I have some hints and questions to help guide you with the prompts, please interpret them however you like (even if it leads you in a dramatically different direction).

The simple rules for this Journey:

  1. Pick a prompt (or two or three!) and get writing.
  2. Post anywhere, and share a link in your post back to this Prompt post.
  3. Share a link to your prompted writing in the comments.
  4. Tag your post with “Writing Prompt Journey”.

Prompt 1

The best budgeting tip I’ve ever heard.

What tip personally helped you get out of debt/save a lot of money?

What budgeting apps have you found really helpful for your finances and how might they help others?

Paper versus digital budgeting: which is superior?

Prompt 2

The best local restaurant you’ve never heard of.

Write a review of your favorite locally owned restaurant, suggesting the best three things to try for someone who’s never been there yet.

Which local restaurants should visitors try if they’re craving sushi, curries, pasta?

Do a write-up about a local restaurant whose owners/staff go above and beyond for their town.

Prompt 3

Four words I never heard before last year (and wish I could wipe from my mind).

Ideas:

Are there some slang terms you’ve recently learned that have taken their places in modern dictionaries?

What are your thoughts on the evolution of language through each generation?

Are you suddenly feeling like a pro in medical/scientific language going through the worldwide craziness the last couple of years? Which words do you hope to soon never hear again?

Remember to check out the Poetry and Fiction Prompts for Week Five for more inspiration. You can also go back to see the previous weeks’ prompts here.

And please don’t forget to put links to your prompted posts in the comments, and link back to this post in your writing so more people can join the journey. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
