Nocturne
A love song

So many sunrises, Crepuscular moments, Shared with you.
We wade now in silver seas Shielded from sun-smacked waves, The ebb and flow of distant days.
But remember the T’s, you say, And smile for the thousandth time: Thailand, Turkey and Taiwan, And countless other trips Tucked into the creases of our brows, The shorthand of our lives.
We mention most the rivers: The Thames, The Seine, The Blue Danube, that wasn’t blue, The Douro, Tagus and Guardiana, The Rhine, the Main, The wind along the wild Boise rapids, The lolling yachts along the Arkansas, Leading to the languid Mississippi.
We are nocturnal creatures Anticipating sleep, As we lie in each other’s arms Sharing liquid memories of dawns.
