Abstract

The narrative follows a woman through her daily routine, highlighting her loneliness and the disconnection she feels from those around her. She starts her day with a sense of disorientation and a bad taste, symbolic of her dissatisfaction with life. Despite her dislike for her situation, she persists, resorting to smoking and medication to cope. • The poem conveys a sense of emotional pain and the struggle to maintain composure in the face of adversity.
  • The author seems to empathize with the character's plight, illustrating her resilience despite the lack of emotional support.

She wakes up in the morning

A bad taste in her mouth

She's so disorientated

She doesn't know north from south.

She gets up puts her clothes on

Lights a cigarette

And even though she hates it

She's not giving up yet.

Oh she needs all the help she can get

To get through her days at the vets

And nobody's cottoned on yet

That she is nobodies pet.

She goes out to the bust stop

Standing in the rain

And though she doesn't show it

It's hard to stand the pain.

Her hand goes to her handbag

Searching for a pill

And though you wouldn't know it

She's feeling rather ill.

Oh she needs all the help she can get

To get through her days at the vets

And nobody's cottoned on yet

That she is nobodies pet.

She calls in at a wine bar

Dying for a drink

She's stumbling for the right words

But she just can't think.

She goes home feeling awful

And falls onto her bed

She's fumbling for a bratwurst

She's giving it some head.

Oh she needs all the help she can get

To get through her days at the vets

And nobody's cottoned on yet

That she is nobodies pet.
