No, We Shouldn’t Arm Teachers
Racism still exists in the classroom.
Here we go again…America.
Not even a couple of weeks after the horrific mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas that killed 19 children and 2 teachers, people are already deflecting the main issue — gun control.
My state, in particular, has loose gun laws.
After the incident, the governor got his ass on live TV in an ugly fashion to tell his citizens that…
“We’re arming teachers.”
Mind you, this is about 2 months after he signed a bill loosening the gun laws even more which will go into effect soon.
I knew nothing would get done.
America is just too enamored with guns to get any real legislation done.
But here’s the main reason why arming teachers is damn sure not the solution to our problems:
More dead black kids.
Thank god I’m not in school anymore.
If I had to deal with teachers having guns, I would’ve been shot at least 5 times by now.
I was a class clown — and a black girl.
I’ve had teachers be rude to me for no reason at all. I doubt they’d have the emotional capacity to handle black kids without losing their shit.
This isn’t to say that all teachers are racist, but what about the other kids in your classroom?
How do we know they won’t grab the gun while the teacher isn’t looking to shoot someone for no reason?
If schools are making black kids cut off their dreadlocks to graduate, I don’t trust the staff enough to handle gun violence, especially after the whole critical race theory fiasco people were so upset about.
Here’s what Americans need to understand.
more guns=more gun violence
It shouldn’t be hard to comprehend. I need to yell it in the streets so these senators can get it through their thick skulls.
This is the America we’ve always lived in.
Unless something drastic happens, I don’t see quick change happening in the future.
But I’m a little more hopeful now after we’ve seen some republicans in the white house be more empathetic to this issue.
