TRUMP’S HOTELS
No, The Rich don’t have an obligation to Take Care of Homeless People
Achievement is not a crime

I have shared on Medium several articles about my brief experience of being homeless. I shared links to the articles on Social Media and Quora.
I get asked this a lot
“ Should we confiscate Trump’s hotels and turn them into homeless shelters?” It’s a question I’m asked. I always roll my eyes and shake my head.
I first want to clarify something, I’m not rich, not by any stretch of the imagination. I am on Disability, and I live with my wife in a low-income apartment complex. I was homeless for almost three years.
I like rich people because they employ people like me
Even though I’m poor, I don’t subscribe to the belief that we should drag the rich down to my level. Why should hard work and dedication be penalized?
Without innovation and capital provided by rich people, we would not have the nice stuff we have. We certainly wouldn’t have the jobs.
The poor will always be here
The poor and homeless will be here. Life isn’t fair, and no amount of wealth redistribution will change that. I like rich people because they employ people like me.
If at any time I’m not making enough money, I can always find another job. I don’t whine and blame other people. I get out and change my circumstances.
Envy will accomplish nothing
I know people want to lash out. Some people enjoy being victims, but penalizing rich people creates more poor people. The thing strikes me as being nothing more than envy.
The people advocating taking Trump’s properties don’t care about the poor and homeless. They are jealous of what the rich have, and they are singling out Trump.
If you’re concerned about the homeless, do something
I doubt that the majority of folks wanting the confiscation of Trump’s properties have ever volunteered at a shelter or put money in a panhandler’s bucket.
By lashing out at Trump. They are feeding their self-righteousness without actually doing anything to help the homeless. The whole thing is petty and childish.
Final thought:
If you care about the homeless, do something. Volunteer at a shelter, donate money, put some money in a panhandler’s can, or offer to buy them a meal.
Punishing a rich person for achievement discourages investment and innovation. It will ultimately force that rich person to invest in another country. Taking the jobs with him when he goes.
