No Room for that Emotion

A walk through coming to terms with them!

Photo by Andre Guerra on Unsplash

When Sad locked Happy away Scared came looking and sighed with Dismay! Joyful was nowhere to be seen But Powerful was keen So she called Mad to protect Insecure But it was far too late…!

Loving had now cosied up to Depressed Who in turn was sharing discouraging secrets with Lonely Confused and Anxious now weighed in on the scene Talking over Confident and Hopeful.

It all became such a mess! Until Optimistic threw out Hurt Who took with him Hateful and Critical Leaving Courageous to finally talk to Confused and isolate Anxious who gave up on acting hysterical.

So Depressed got the huff and took all his stuff Leaving Powerful to change her ways With no more secrets to hear Lonely disappeared And Joyful came back again. Sad got wind of this new kind of thing And unlocked Happy before running away!

Inspired by a version of the emotional colour wheel shown below. Can you believe it, we can experience around 34,000 emotions.

The colour wheel was first developed by psychologist Dr Robert Plutchik, as a way of navigating and expressing the different intensities and formation of our emotions.

I thought I would challenge myself and have some fun imagining what it would be like in a room full of emotions.

I hope you enjoyed the poem, thanks for reading!
