No More Sweetheart II
Sometimes, people will show you better than they can tell you.
Todd returns home, after the unexpected and awkward encounter with his wife’s lover. As he walks through the house, he realizes his wife is taking a shower.
Suddenly, Todd hears his wife’s cellphone vibrating on the nightstand in their bedroom. As he gets closer, he sees that she’s receiving text messages from her lover, Scott. Usually, Todd isn’t one to pry into Amanda’s personal things, but given that he just caught her cheating in their marriage, he decides to read the text messages, as Amanda didn’t lock her cellphone.
Todd scrolls to the last text message from Scott, “Amanda, be careful, because Todd just stopped me on the road and now he’s coming to my job tomorrow”. After reading more of Amanda and Scott’s text messages, Todd can feel his blood pressure rising.
Shockingly, Todd comes across a video that Scott sent to Amanda. With much audacity, Scott had his cellphone propped up on Todd and Amanda’s nightstand recording their sex act. Todd saw his wife taking Scott’s belt off with her mouth, and engaging in sex with this other man without the use of a condom. As Todd continues to watch the video, in disgust, he sees himself in the video when he walks into the room and catches them having sex.
As if Todd’s heart couldn’t be hurt anymore, watching that video validated his decision to end everything with Amanda. Todd forwards that video to his cellphone, along with screenshots of other text messages between Scott and Amanda, so he can provide to his attorney.
“Sweetheart, when did you get back? Wait, why are you looking through my phone?” Amanda asks, rushing over to Todd.
“I don’t even know you, Amanda. I can’t trust you, and I’m not about to stand here and argue with you.”
“Give me my phone! You don’t have any right going through my phone.”
“I don’t have any right? Are you seriously talking about rights, after you’ve wronged me? After seeing that video of you and your lover boy, I have every right to be mad. But, you know what…you’re not worth my time.”
“You were always gone, and at work. I get bored in this house! You don’t understand!” Amanda cries.
“I was gone, and at work, making a living to support you and the family we hoped to have. You never complained about me buying you things, giving you money, and buying you that new car. By the way, I’m returning that car tomorrow.”
“What?! You can’t be serious!”
“As I said before, I’m not about to argue with you. I’m packing my things tonight. I’ll return the car after I leave my doctor’s office in the morning, because I have to make sure I’m alright. You’ve been sleeping with Scott, and who knows what other men you’ve slept with. I need to ensure that I haven’t contracted any diseases.
“That’s not fair. You can’t insinuate that I’m some type of slut.”
“Amanda, I loved you. Now, you have proven to me that you can’t be trusted, and you don’t love me wholeheartedly. To make matters worse, I have evidence of your wrongful doings. It’s best that we divorce and go our separate ways.”
Both Todd and Amanda agreed on the divorce. Todd returned the car the next day. Given all the evidence, Todd’s attorney was able let him keep the house, but Todd sold the house, as there were too many negative memories. Amanda moved back home with her parents, as she didn’t have a job. Scott was fired from his job at the car dealership, which happens to be owned by the brother of Todd’s attorney.
