No Justice, No Peace

A Prism & Pen writing prompt

Today, Prism & Pen issues a new two-week writing challenge. In light of the unrest rocking the world in the face of unrelenting systemic racism and violence against Black and Brown people, BFoundAPen has selected “No Justice, No Peace” as our new prompt.

It’s time to tell stories about justice, injustice, and protest —

I’ve just read some amazing news. A veto-proof majority of the Minneapolis city council has announced they will disband the police department and replace it with “community-led public safety.”

Referring to the police murder of George Floyd, one council member said, “We can resolve confusion over a $20 grocery transaction without drawing a weapon or pulling out handcuffs.”

This is the power of forceful protest. This is radical change driven by cries of “No Justice, No peace.”

What fiction, creative nonfiction, or poetry can YOU write? What stories can you tell about justice, lack of justice, and the power of protest to unsettle peace and complacency?
