No Gym? No Workout? No Problem!
If you spent any time at all in the fitness world, you’ve heard someone say, “I need to get a gym membership so I can get in shape.” Well, I’m here to put that myth to rest!
I’m here to tell you that you DO NOT need to join a gym to get in shape! Now please, before all you gym rats get your panties in a bunch and think I’m telling people NOT to go to a gym, I am not saying that!
What I’m saying is, a gym is not the be-all-that-ends-all way to get in shape. There are several other options. Of course, there’s always the running, biking, swimming, which I encourage anyone to try. But then there is also the at home workout option.
I can hear it now…
“But Andrew, I don’t have all the equipment that a gym has, I can’t possibly do the things at home that I can do at a gym.”
To that I say, you’re probably right, but who says you need to use all that fancy-dancy equipment to get into shape? I can give you example after example after example of people who NEVER touch a weight and they have a rockin’ body (both women and men).
How do they do it? It’s actually quite simple. It’s going back to basics, using equipment you already have and which nature provides as well.
Sure, it’s not glamorous, it’s not “sexy”, heck, in some circles it may not be cool, but believe me, it gets the job done!
What I’m talking about is basic calisthenics. That’s right…..push ups, pull ups and squats, all body weight stuff.
Now granted, you may not be able to focus on a precise muscle, as these activities use multiple muscles to get the job done, but then I’m not talking about competing in the Mr. Universe competition or a Figure competition. I’m talking about doing something that will get you in better shape then your current state.
If you’ve followed me in the past, I’m a big supporter of at home workout routines. So far, of all the routines I’ve done, I’ve recommended 4 programs. (if you want to know what they are, you’ll have to ask me as I’m not promoting them here and now). Three of these 4 programs require NO WEIGHTS. The 4th, minimal weights at best. (the only weights I have at my home gym are two sets of dumbbells. 20lbs and 25lbs, some exercise bands, and that’s it!)
You don’t need much space to workout, and all you gotta do is put a DVD in and press play. Heck, today a DVD is considered “old school”, so I’m sure most of these programs now have phone apps, but I still like to press play, so I stick with the DVD.
And I’m here to tell you, if you follow along, you’ll be sweating your butt off with each and every one of the programs and, when you’re done, you’ll know you did something! Best of all, you’re already home when the workout is done! How cool is that!
Again, if you want to join a gym, go for it! I’ll be the first to encourage you to go and have a GREAT workout!
But, just remember, you CAN workout at home as well! I’ve done dozens of at home workouts and programs and have even developed a few for others to follow, and they work GREAT!
Are these workouts for you? I didn’t think so when I first started, but now that’s about all I do. So, what I’m saying is, don’t knock it until you try it. Who knows, you may find out something about yourself you may not have known.
If you do find something out about yourself, I’ll have two word for you…..You’re Welcome!

I’ve developed an at home workout program that can jump start you into getting back into shape. You can read all about it here….
