No, Congressperson, It’s Not Just “Liberal Elites” with College Debt
Your Twitter Posts are Snobby
I live in Iowa, which means I have the supreme joy of having my Senators be Joni Ernst, and 106-year-old—wait, my bad, he’s only 89 — year old Chuck Grassley as my Senators.
Senator Grassley obviously posts his own Tweets, or else his social media team doesn’t understand punctuation or spelling. His tweets range from baffling to downright bizarre.

I think Senator Ernst might have a team who posts on Twitter and then runs away before she gets ratio’d every single time.
This is one of her latest, referring to President Biden’s student debt relief plan:

It’s very insulting to insinuate that the only people with college debt are “liberal elites.” She works for the state of Iowa, supposedly; surely she knows that we have community colleges that give people degrees and certificates in the trades, not to mention a big Ag state university?
It’s not just “liberal elites” with college degrees, Senator.
I’m not saying we can’t disagree about the relief measures taken to address the student loan debt crisis, but instead of disagreeing and discussing options, my Congresspersons prefer to just offer talking points on Twitter.
My Senators tend to refer to Liberals as “Coastal Elites,” which is insulting to me, a lifelong Iowan. I may be Liberal, but I don’t think I’m Elite, and I’m in no way Coastal — the nearest Coast is the Mississippi River, and I’m pretty sure that’s not what they mean.
I’m tired of being insulted by my Senators, who don’t listen to me. I considered calling Senator Ernst’s office and giving her a piece of my mind, but then I thought…maybe I’ll channel this rage into a Medium post, instead.
Surely she’ll read that.
