Night Terrors to Forgive

A spiritual poem of lust and love

Photo by Egidijus Bielskis on Unsplash

Demons dance upon my chest, with their whispered chants of sullen rest. Night has left this heart alone, my mistaken loves forsaken home.

I’m lost inside their selfish hymns, a pound of flesh to sooth my skin. In darkened room her breath so sweet, angelic form of restful sleep.

I slowly move in shadows fright, a creeping menace void of light. She smiles, awakened, takes my hand. Demons flee inside this once fearful man.

I gaze upon her form and grace, divinity now cleanse my lustful chase. She guides me toward Time’s forgotten place. A child to ponder love’s forgiven space.

Inside green eyes a universe does flow. Awakening, again, my frozen soul.

This poem is written using the prompt word “Demon” suggested by Simran Kankas.
