NFL Week 6 Bets
We started off this NFL season on fire. We’ve since cooled down a bit going 1–2–1 again last week. We’ll go over what worked, and what didn’t work, before looking at the NFL week 6 slate to get ourselves back on track.
What Went Right?
Last week we had confidence that the battle of Pennsylvania would end with the Pittsburgh Steelers covering the 7 point spread. It was very close at halftime but thankfully the second half worked in our favor as the Steelers widened their lead against the Philadelphia Eagles and never looked back.
We had one push again this week but this time it was our 2-team teaser. We moved Cleveland to +7 and they beat the Colts outright anyway. The second half of the teaser was the Seahawks at -1. If they had converted the 2-point conversion at the end of the game we’d be celebrating the win. Unfortunately they won by exactly 1 which made the whole bet a push.
What Went Wrong?
The Kansas City Chiefs have managed to beat the Baltimore Ravens by 14 points and the New England Patriots by 16 points earlier this season. I certainly figured they’d be able to cover 11.5 points against their division rival Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders proved they’ve been underestimated and won the game outright.
The matchup between the Carolina Panthers and the Atlanta Falcons was set up to be a complete shootout. We needed the total to go over 53.5 points but unfortunately the two offenses couldn’t get the total over 39.
NFL Week 6 Bets
The AFC North may be the best division in the NFL right now. We have a great matchup between 2 of their top teams with the Cleveland Browns traveling to Pittsburgh to play the Steelers. I’ve been high on the Browns the last few weeks. Although they got past the Colts defense last week I just think that the Steelers defense will be too much for them. The Steelers will bounce back from their bad defensive performance against the Eagles last week and take it out on the Browns. The better team will always find a way to win in the end. The Browns are getting close to the top of this division but they’ll have to get past the Steelers to do so. That’s not going to happen this week.
Although they’re coming off a short week of rest after defeating a previously undefeated team, I still really like the Tennessee Titans as they host their rival Houston Texans. Ryan Tannehill has picked up where he left off at the end of last season and has led this team to 4–0. We all saw Derrick Henry’s contributions last week as he had his way against Josh Norman and the Buffalo Bills. Jadeveon Clowney will get his first chance to show his strength against his old team. A 3.5 point spread can be scary but I’m fully prepared to take Tennessee at this line.
One of the top games of Week 6 is the battle between the Green Bay Packers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The undefeated Packers are coming off of a bye and the Bucs are going to be playing on 10 days rest after playing last Thursday. The line moved from -2 to -1 and I’m ready to bet it before it becomes a pick ’em. While the Packers may be undefeated, they have not faced a defense like Tampa Bay. And on the offensive side of the ball, the Bucs should finally have their full WR corps at their disposal. Tom Brady has been laughed at for the past week for his lapse of judgement. All I know is that Tom Brady is at his most dangerous when he’s being ridiculed or thought to be washed up. I wouldn’t want to face the Buccaneers this week and I’ll gladly take the +1.
The Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills both came into week 5 undefeated and both left suffering their first loss of the season. Both teams are going to battle this Monday to prove to the league that they deserve their spots atop the power rankings. Neither team wants to lose their second straight game and will pull out all the stops to prevent that. The Buffalo defense has lost a huge step with the injuries of CB Tre’Davious White and LB Matt Milano. The Chiefs have been putting up an average of over 30 points per game all season. The Bills will have to match that with their high powered offense. The Bills have scored no less than 27 points in their 4 wins this season and Josh Allen has a chance to show the entire league that he deserves to be in the MVP talks with a huge win against Patrick Mahomes and his Super Bowl Champion Chiefs. The total of this game is 57.5 points. While extremely high, I don’t know that they could dissuade me from taking the over. I’m betting it now before it shifts any higher.
The Kris Bets This…
NFL (11–9) (55%) (+1.1 units)
Pittsburgh -4 Tennessee -3.5 Tampa Bay +1 Kansas City/Buffalo over 57.5 points
