Newsbreak Is Running Two Content Campaigns This June
Submit your stories on Father’s Day or Pride Month, and maybe win some money

Throughout the year, NewsBreak runs content campaigns where they invite current contributors to submit stories based on defined topics for local U.S. stories to win prizes. The prizes are usually gift cards or cash payouts.
I’ve had great luck with these campaigns and have won prizes multiple times, with the most recent being last month when I was awarded a top story for NewsBreak’s Asian Americans and Pacific Islander campaign. I won a $50 bonus for the story in addition to the money I made per story view.
In June 2022, NewsBreak is running two separate content campaigns. Here’s the info if you’d like to try your hand at the prizes.
Fatherly Love content campaign
What to write about
According to NewsBreak, stories for the Fatherly Love content campaign can be anything from “sharing a story of a father doing inspiring things in your community to highlighting a local business to take dad for a treat, we’re looking for content that is local, joyful and helpful to your community.”
When is the deadline?
Saturday, June 18.
What are the requirements?
- You must be an approved NewsBreak Contributor.
- It has to be a local U.S. story related to Father’s Day.
- You need to include the tag “Fatherly Love” in your story.
- Content must be new and follow NewsBreak’s Content Policy, Requirements, and Editorial Standards & Guidelines
What are the prizes?
The top prize is Editor’s Pick for a bonus of $150. In addition, two winners will get $100 for posting the most stories related to the topic. And three top stories will be chosen based on the most page views for $50 prizes.
You can read about all the details here.
LGBTQ+ Pride Month content campaign
What to write about
NewsBreak says, “From parades to protests to proms, share the local stories that celebrate your local LGBTQ+ community to participate.”
When is the deadline?
Monday, June 27.
What are the requirements?
- You must be an approved NewsBreak Contributor.
- Again, it has to be a local U.S. story and a topic related to your local LGBTQ+ community.
- You need to include the tag “Pride Month” in your story.
- Content must follow NewsBreak’s Content Policy, Requirements, and Editorial Standards & Guidelines
- Unlike the Father’s Day campaign, NewsBreak will accept previously published Pride Month content. You can add the tag “Pride Month” to your article and resubmit. However, it can’t be an older article but has to have been written within the past month.
What are the prizes?
NewsBreak will award two contributors $150 each for posting the most stories on the topic. One finalist will be chosen by the editorial team for a $100 prize. And the three articles with the most page views will win “top story” and $50.
You can read about all the details here.
How to apply to NewsBreak’s Contributor Network
As I mentioned above, you must already be approved as a NewsBreak Contributor to submit your stories to NewsBreak campaigns. If you’re interested in joining, you can use my referral link here. (And yes, I do get a small fee if you use my link and you are accepted into NewsBreak’s program.)
Don’t forget to share on social media
If you submit a story for these campaigns, you may want to share it in a tweet to NewsBreak’s Twitter page. I’ve found they usually like and retweet my posts when I do this, and I get a little bit more visibility. Which means more page views, and that means more money.
