I don’t intend to take up the role of Negative Nancy Or kill anyone’s enthusiasm with my words I don’t wish to be mean or nasty Or get on your nerves But… What’s the deal with the New Year resolutions? Why does everyone say “New Year, new me”? Lost in the sea of delusions and confusions We wait 365 days to feel free… How absurd, how hypocritical To place this burden on January’s left shoulder How irresponsible and parasitical To let change become a smoulder; Now is the ideal time It’s transition o’clock Cross the comfort line Walk the damn walk; Did you say New Year, new… Who? Cause if you don’t change now It will just be New Year Same you.
