New Year, Same me Behind New Persona
Has the New Year Changed Me?

At best I’m ambivalent to Carry On New Year, Pyhtonesque skit, Resolutions that last as long as my next breath, Meaningless greetings, Acquaintances saying “We’ll fix it next year”, Why not fix it now?, Seems next year much like last year, Ad infinitum.
But this time stumbled over Kayla Tackett’s New Year story, For unknown reasons left comment:
“New Year, old me”. Better still “New Year, same me”. Perhaps in Jungian Terms “New Year, same me behind new persona”. There’s a poem in here somewhere. I may have o’d on coffee again.
Talk about asking for provocative reply! Here it is in all its majesty:
“If you write one be sure to tag me in it. I’d love to read it.”
Decided not to write, Ran out of coffee so here I am, Tapping again, Blame my comment from being full of coffee, Now sitting here writing this ‘ere bleedin’ poem, Blame this on not enough coffee.
Has New Year Changed me?
“New Year, same me behind new persona” Despite my reluctance indeed resistance, Feel change has crept up on me.
Back to basics, Tussling with words, Matching meanings to wayward thoughts, Working them as potter lovingly shapes clay, sometimes piece morphs into unbidden and exciting form, Like this poem.
“New Year, same me behind new persona” Off-the-cuff comment insightful and with benefit of hindsight surprisingly true, Had adopted persona with relish following stories by Christina Sponias, Made my research easier to socialise.
What has changed to some degree over New Year is my persona, My engagement with everyday life specifically my writing and medium interactions.
Going to favorite publications once felt like strolling in local community, Engaging with friends and acquaintances, Swapping stories comments and replies, Now my experience more like walking through shopping malls with very loud spruikers.
Craved getting back to basics, Remembered simpler times Grandmother’s kitchen in rural Queensland, Those far off times inspired creation of Backwater Publications, Writing cooperative, Contemplative retreat, Ideas and words, Prose and poem, Style and creativity, Learning by doing amongst friends.
“New Year, same me behind new persona”, Now engage with medium friends via Backwater Publications, My new jim-dandy persona.
Blessed be.
