New Writers Must Improve these Habits.

Studies show these are the most popular ones.

From the last few months, I am studying different habits of my close friend Raj. These are the habits which are making him unproductive and I think he should change it as soon as he can. But most importantly here are the top five of them, which you can relate to.

Try changing them and be more productive you wish to be. Boost your working spirit after changing these habits.

1. You Don’t have a goal.

Your brain is a very powerful weapon, It surely can’t do multitasking, but it can help you to complete your work. If you don’t have a proper plan for the day, your brain will not get any task to be done and ultimately you end up doing nothing. You must fix your goals for the day and act accordingly.

Trust me, when you have a goal to complete, things get pretty easy and you will start doing small task to complete the goal. While completing the task think about the goal you have fixed for the day, it will motivate you and boost you. Most importantly, you will get more productive and utilize your day in a positive manner.

Create a goal for today, after you complete it and have some time left to think about a bigger goal you want to reach in this week. After you have a clear image about your goal, you will understand the smaller task you need to create for achieving your goal in a given time and you will keep acting accordingly.

As a writer, my goal of the week is to write an article about human physiology or some other topic. So when I think about my goal, I will be knowing the tasks which I need to create to complete the goal. Firstly, I need to conduct some research, then start acting accordingly. After creating the tasks regarding my goal, I will try to complete the task and ultimately it will result in completing my goal. After that I will set a new goal for tomorrow and then the same process will continue till I finish it.

In simple words, let’s imagine Raj has a goal to eat a pizza.

So the tasks which he will create are :

1. Buy a pizza.

2. Slice the pizza in equal parts.

3. Eat every slice.

4. Drink some water.

Raj has completed all the tasks which will eventually result in completion of his goal.

So create a goal for today. Create tasks accordingly and complete them. After you have completed your goal for today, create another goal for tomorrow. Accordingly, keep making bigger goals and try challenging your limits.

2. Comparing yourself to others’ success.

This is one of the most common mistake people make, everyone on this planet have different mindsets, different personality, different capabilities and I think comparisons with them will only demotivate you. You should have a different perspective of your own. You are unique and that is the biggest quality you have.

You know that completing a task can take you six hours and may be your friend can do it in four hours, So it doesn’t mean that you can’t complete that particular task, the only difference over here is speed of performing the task. So never get upset and leave that task incomplete. People who keep comparing, usually get unproductive.

How can we overcome this habit? So, let’s consider that I am studying in college, there is a student named John, who always gets good grades than me. I tried improving my grades by my own, but I made it worse. Now should I start comparing with John to obtain good grades, definitely no. I should visit him and ask for some tips, ask for a book which is good regarding my subject. This is the most effective way to deal with this habit.

Comparing will create ignorance and ignorance will create a lack of focus, resulting in total wastage of time. Wastage of time will create a mentality of giving up the task and you will ultimately end up doing nothing. Hence, you will become unproductive. It can also have a very bad effect on your profession and can result in long term damage to your working spirit.

Stop comparing, and focus on improving yourself. This will always create a positive mentality and motivate you to do more. The more you become positive regarding your work, will only make you more productive.

3. You always feel stuck.

We all are humans and we are born to make mistakes. When you are stuck with your task, try taking some rest rather than quitting. We can only figure out things we already know. So try doing some research when you are stuck with your task. The internet is always available for you. Ask your friends, whether than can help you.

The only thing that you should do is keep doing your task, take a rest when required but don’t quit. Things are only difficult until we really try solving them. On an average 3 out of 5 people don’t like doing research and tend to quit more early only because they feel stuck doing the task. It is always okay to pause a particular task rather than completely ending it.

When you are stuck with a task, find out the reason. Try different things to eliminate that reason. You will surely end up learning new things. In fact, while trying out different ways to complete a task can make you more consistent. It will help you to be more productive.

People who usually get stuck with a task, gets demotivated easily and it will result in lack of spirit. It will ultimately make you sleepy and you will end up wasting your time. Just remember you can become more productive only by sacrificing some of your comfort, which includes your precious time. When you try to do something interesting, you create a different comfort zone at work place.

I tried meditation in the morning, which helped me a lot. My mind is very calm and I feel more confident. Now, whenever I get stuck at my task, I do some research regarding the problem I am facing and trust me, it becomes a lot easier to deal with that problem and complete my task.

So trust yourself and complete the task, I am sure that you are lot capable and you will surely end up being more productive.

4. You are getting distracted.

Trust me, this is one of the most common habit many of us have. We tend to distract more easily and more often. The world is getting connected with the help of the internet and we are getting distracted by the same internet. It happens due to easy availability of social media. Currently it hardly takes one minute to create a social media account and get connected people.

There are many distractions around us, the most common ones are our phone and gaming devices. I get easily distracted while doing my work with my phone. When a message pops up on the screen of our device we tend to answer it and wait for a reply. This distraction not only cause wastage of time, but also demotivates us and ultimately we get sleepy.

Our brain likes entertainment more than some productive work. The only way to avoid distraction is to have a proper workspace and fix a proper time for work. While working silent all the devices nearby. It helped me a lot and made me more productive. Don’t reply unnecessary texts from your friend, reply ones that are important. Create a daily schedule to include some amount of time to answer unnecessary texts.

Know what should be your priority and what should not be. For me, I kept my work on higher priority to be more productive. This not only made my daily schedule much easier, but also kept me away from the distractions.

So, we know that distraction plays a major role in making us unproductive and after overcoming this habit we can utilize our day properly. You can also make a weekly planner which will boost your productivity. Also, while planning your daily schedule do include some time for random breaks to drink water and eat some healthy snacks.

Many people think getting healthy is a very difficult task, But it just requires some effort. This effort includes not eating junk food and doing normal exercise. Yoga is proven to be the most effective, as it targets both physical as well as mental health.

Staying healthy also includes getting enough sleep. When you sleep enough, your brain increases its functionality and makes you more active. This will surely increase your productivity as brain can process work efficiently and you will not feel tired.

Recently I started eating healthy food, I stopped eating junk food. I also did some indoor exercise for an hour daily and slept minimum 6 hours a day. The results were completely unbelievable, I started feeling positive and I completed most of my work in a given period of time. I was able to recognize my mental strength. Mostly, I was more productive than I ever could be.

Create a proper diet plan which should include all types of vegetables, Do some exercise daily for minimum half an hour, get a proper sleep without any distractions. Trust me, after a week you will surely see the progress.

Staying healthy not only improves your mental health, but also increase the strength of your immune system. This will help you to plan a productive schedule for a longer term. Staying healthy will also keep you motivated to do more work.

A healthy body includes doing exercise daily. Normal and easy exercise is much beneficial than the vigorous kind of exercise available on the internet. Keep a good consistency for better results.

Staying productive has lots of advantages. It will keep you mentally strong and always improve you in a professional field. Keep track on yourself while changing these habits, you will surely find a better version of yourself.

Some habits will require time to get changed, but once you have changed it there is should be no chance that you adapt them again.
