Summary

Kristina God encourages new writers to embrace their uniqueness and write authentically about what they are passionate about, emphasizing that personal stories are a source of strength and distinctiveness.

Abstract

In an article aimed at new writers, Kristina God addresses the common concern of finding a niche, advising them to write about topics they genuinely care about and are passionate about, rather than feeling confined to a single niche. She assures readers that their individual perspectives and stories are what make them stand out. God underscores the importance of vulnerability in storytelling, asserting that sharing personal, even messy, stories is not a sign of weakness but rather a display of courage and authenticity. She cites a study to reinforce the idea that each person's brain anatomy is as unique as their fingerprints, suggesting that this individuality should be reflected in one's writing. The article concludes with an invitation to join Medium, offering unlimited access to a wealth of articles, including hers, and expressing gratitude for support.

New Writers, If You Feel Ordinary You Need To Read This

Don’t waste your most precious gift.

A lot of new writers ask me whether they have to find a niche and stick to it or whether they can also write about whatever they want.

My recommendation is:

  • Write about what you truly care about.
  • Write about what you’re passionate about.
  • You don’t have to be single-focused on a specific niche.

Your fear is a liar.

From consulting hundreds of brands, companies, and individuals for my 9–5 job, to supporting creators in my coachings, this is what I know about YOU, dear reader:

  • I know YOU have your own take on things.
  • I know YOU have your own story.
  • I know YOU are not ordinary. You are special.

Your fear is a liar.

Being ordinary is never an option.

Telling your messy stories is not a weakness.

When it comes to writing online, people are frightened to tell their personal stories.

Although these stories are the most powerful ones. The most interesting ones as well.

I tell my coachees to at least give their readers a dose of who they truly are.

Telling your messy stories is not a weakness.

That’s what most writers are getting wrong.

The moment you allow yourself to be vulnerable, you’re showing strength.

The secret to getting ahead is to build strength from authenticity.

According to a study by the University of Zurich, like with fingerprints, no two people have the same brain anatomy.

Our uniqueness comes from genetic factors and life experiences.

Plus, mindset and creativeness are what separate us from each other.

Look deeper within yourself and just write about what YOU want.

Don’t waste your most precious gift.
