New Writers and Submission Guidelines
Lessons from History, Medium’s top History publication is now accepting new writers.
Lessons from History is a platform for writers who share ideas and inspirational stories from world history. We now have more than 22,000 followers on Medium. Our mission is to promote history on Medium and demonstrate the value of historical writing.
How to Get Added as a Writer for “Lessons from History”
It gives us great pleasure to announce that we are now accepting new writers.
You MUST be a medium member in order to write for LFH.
Drop your medium username in the comments section and answer two simple questions,
- Who’s your favorite historical figure and why?
- Can you judge the past with today’s lens?
There is no right or wrong answer to these questions so feel free to write whatever you want to.
If you’ve answered the questions, please give the editors a couple of weeks to get you added (you’ll be informed in a private note).
Submission Rules and Guidelines
We try to keep everything simple but still there are some rules that you must follow.
- We only accept UNPUBLISHED drafts.
- We publish one article per writer a day.
- The article should be free from Grammatical errors, we suggest you run it by Grammarly to make our lives easier.
- Submissions should comply with Medium’s Rules, Ad-Free Policy, Content Guidelines, and Curation Guidelines.
- All stories/articles should be at least 400 words (Minimum 3 min reads).
- All submissions to Lesson from History must have properly credited image(s) to avoid copyright issues.
- Every article should have at least one image.
- All submission must be free of plagiarism. We run every story through a plagiarism checker. Anyone who violates this rule will be removed and reported.
- Once submitted, please give the editors at least three days to review and publish your piece.
- Your title should truly reflect what you have written in the story. No clickbait allowed.
