New Science Park In Toluca!

A new touristic spot to visit at the center of the city

After months of waiting, the inauguration occurred just a few days ago on October 14th. Toluca as a city has had few renovations or any modifications to say the least, so such an important new project of course was well received. It’s the biggest construction Toluca has had for almost 40 years now!

As the borders of the city grow, so does the intent to have more green spaces, therefore this new space will serve as a “green lung” since it has approximately 14,000m2 of greenery.

This project was created to recover green areas, and to expand cultural and touristic attractions in the Sate of Mexico…it will be a new symbol of identity.— The Governor Alfredo de Mazo

Can you believe that this construction cost 350 million pesos?! Will the economy and tourism be equally beneficial to the cost? We will soon know the outcome.

The Science Park was also intended to maximize the attraction to the Historical Centre as it lays next to the famous botanic garden “El Cosmovitral”.

One of the important features is that the main area of the new park is one floor below, so it could be seen that it is protected by exterior noise. This adds to the design as it has different levels of interest. This project of a total of 24,000m2 has exposition spaces, a library, commercial areas, a playground for kids, and a space for artisanal and local handcrafts.

There is also a new Planetarium which is projected to unify culture with education. It has a 360 screen that is not only pretended to display spatial material but the opportunities are endless. It can go from scientific documentaries, architecture, biology, movies and so much more.

Another feature is its universal access, you can easily cruise around all the areas because the circulation is mainly made out of ramps and it also includes elevators. This may also be the guide to future projects since appropriate accessibility throughout the city has always been a problem.

I truly hope this project has not only benefits for the State’s Capital but to all the region. So if you get the opportunity to pass by Toluca, State of Mexico, make sure to go to the Historical Centre. There is now more to visit and be amazed by.

Many cities have an important touristic spot that can define the place, it may be a museum, a park, or any type of cultural space. What is one worthy to share with others? Do you have a preferred touristic spot? What is your go-to activity? Do you have any favorite local dish?
