Summary

The Lark has introduced a new category for true stories, inviting writers to submit their personal truths in the form of short stories.

Abstract

The Lark, an online publication, has announced the addition of a new category dedicated to true stories. Starting in 2022, contributors are encouraged to share their truths through the medium of short stories. Submissions must adhere to specific guidelines, including a minimum word count of 700 and a narrative style that resembles life-writing rather than traditional articles. To facilitate this, writers are instructed to incorporate dialogue and use the tags 'stories' and 'The Lark' when submitting their work. This initiative aims to expand the publication's content and engage its audience with authentic, narrative-driven pieces.

Opinions

  • The Lark values authenticity and creativity, as evidenced by the invitation for writers to share personal truths.
  • The publication emphasizes the importance of storytelling by requiring submissions to be in the form of short stories, suggesting a preference for narrative depth over expository writing.
  • The guidelines indicate a commitment to quality and coherence, with a minimum word count and a clear distinction between storytelling and article writing.
  • The inclusion of the new category reflects an editorial decision to diversify the content offered to readers, potentially attracting a broader audience.
  • The use of specific tags for submission is a strategic choice to streamline the organization and discoverability of the new content within the publication.

For 2022, we have a new category! This starts from today.

So, do you have a truth that you would love to write about?

If you have a truth to air to the world, then you can now write about this truth by writing it like a short story for The Lark. We will accept any kind of truth as long as it’s within our rules and guidelines (which are stated here Write for Us page) and that is the story must be at least 700 words or more and it must read like a short story and not an article.

Writing a short story and not an article can be hard when writing about truth but it can be done. This means adding dialogue to it, to make it believable. You can write it like it’s a piece of life-writing.

Also, add the tag ‘stories’ in your tag list and it will be added into the ‘True Stories’ section along with adding the tag ‘The Lark’.

I hope everyone can contribute to the True stories section.

Thanks for your time,

and a happy new year!
