Never Be Afraid To Make Mistakes Again In Your Life

Mistakes are opportunities to learn

You’ve messed up. You’ve failed. And long after the dust has settled, you still replay that incident in your head.

I shouldn’t have done that. It was my fault. I wish I knew better. I wish I could go back and relive that moment one more time. I would have done differently. Why did I do that? What was I thinking?

What if I tell you that it’s okay?

What if I tell you it’s not the end?

What if I tell you that you’re allowed to make mistakes and you have the permission to mess things up?

Making mistakes and dealing with them can be debilitating. It’s incredibly hard having to cope with the internal negative self-talk. You chastise yourself for not being more of something else. It’s like you’ve stepped into the quicksand that pulls you right under. The more you struggle, the deeper you sink into despair and frustration.

But wait. There’s something else. The good thing about mistakes is that you’re not alone. That sort of thing, whatever you’re fretting over, happens all the time. Everyone makes them. There’s just no point in allowing that event, which is over now, to suck all the joy out of your present moment.

You’re capable of re-inventing yourself. There’s no reason why you have to stay stuck in the dark times when there’s a bright future waiting. You don’t have to hold yourself in the darkness of your past.

Any man can make mistakes, but only an idiot persists in his error.

— Marcus Tullius Cicero

Have compassion. You wouldn’t be unreasonable with others, so why put yourself through the wringer? Quit pretending that you have to be perfect and embrace your flaws. You’re not a weakling if you choose to admit you were wrong. It’s a false belief. Having the courage to accept and admit your mistakes makes you awesome.

Nobody wakes up one morning and decides that they’re going to make a mistake. It happens. You say wrong things, you do wrong things. You fall, you beat yourself, you get up and then you learn. It’s the process of growing. You move on, and that’s how you live.

Be a little less hard on yourself and laugh at your shortcomings. You are your own best friend, so take some of the advice and the love you so easily give to others for you.

A man must be big enough to admit his mistakes, smart enough to profit from them, and strong enough to correct them.

— John C. Maxwell

Acknowledge how you feel and go through the frustration, sadness, and disappointment. Yell, scream, and cry if you need to, but after that, forgive. Let go. Give yourself a hug and remember there’s growth on the other side. You’ll soon find out that the things you stress and worry about aren’t all that big of a deal.

Let’s face it. Everything in life isn’t that big of a deal, it’s just your level of attachment to it. Whether it’s people, possessions or experiences, clinging on too hard just makes it more difficult. You may want to believe otherwise, but nothing is forever. Not even your pain.

It’s hard to get back to a place of happiness and stability if you continue to ruminate on what had gone wrong. You can’t fathom how you could go from there. You’re tormenting yourself by clinging to the hope that the reality you’re living is a lie.

A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable but more useful than a life spent doing nothing.

— George Bernard Shaw

Others have told you deserve better and you already know that. The longer you put off letting go and embracing acceptance, the harder you shall fall. You tell yourself that maybe, if you endure it just a little bit longer, you’ll get what you want, and things will change. No, you’re only prolonging the inevitable.

Sadly, truthfully, you designed your life plan to make such mistakes. You are meant to learn from it and you are meant to move on, a better and wiser person along the way. Life isn’t just going to short-change you by letting you rock steadily on the chair of mediocrity. Know that everything happens for a reason and be at peace with that.

If you keep allowing mistakes to get you down, then you deprive yourself of the opportunity to become your higher self. Don’t settle for what’s beneath you. Be brave and walk away. Sure, make all the mistakes that are required of you, then recover quickly and move along.

Feel that weight drop from your shoulders as you move toward your new life. Whatever has kept you back will no longer be an issue and watch as things begin to fall into place.

One day, many moons from now, you’ll look back and thank the mistake for the lessons it had taught you. You are that special. You just have to know that.
