Nervous for New year’s End?! Here’s Why!
You haven’t checked off many things from your year-end To-Do List. As the year comes to a close, and your list of dreams, goals, and aspirations remains stacked, you find yourself in a mad dash to complete them.
All the things you pledged to get done in the previous year, and now that the year has come to an end, it’s time to put up or shut up!
I just put up. I put my fresh new class, ‘FUND YOUR DREAMS,’ on Skillshare, and I had butterflies reading the paragraph to be submitted. You know, the paragraph you really have to read.

I’ve been an online instructor, putting classes on Skillshare for years, and I’ve taught over 13 thousand students on that platform and thousands more elsewhere.
I once had the number one class ranking on Skillshare, and the platform opened up a world of opportunities. I didn’t imagine how creating and selling digital content (courses) could be life-changing.
I’ve shared this story somewhere before. I was in this online group of entrepreneurs focusing on helping people looking to make money online. There is this guy in the group who always came off as a bit scammy.
He was making money on a few platforms and showing off by posting his affiliate links. One time he posted about Skillshare, and I checked it out to see if it was legit.
I grew very fast on Skillshare, and the site is legit. It definitely is, and it has been around for years, offering opportunities for non traditional content creators.
How I see it is that the platform Skillshare is the opposite of the platform Etsy. On Skillshare, you sell a digital product (an online course) you craft based on your passion, skills, creativity, and experiences.
On Etsy, you sell a unique physical item. Not saying one is better than the other, just trying to crystallize what’s what for those who don’t know.
Back to Skillshare. Even though I’ve never stopped taking classes on Skillshare, never stopped learning, I have not created one in about 4 years.
The beauty of that, though, is that an online product keeps small streams of mostly passive income coming, even when your creative candle blows in a different direction
The platform has changed a lot, and my simple style of creating courses fell out of alignment with what appeared to be Skillshare’s push for a more glamorous editing and bigger names in the virtual world.
The product I created, despite its intended simplicity, took me much longer than expected to complete. I fell madly out of love with it and eventually stopped working on it.
When you’re passionately disengaged from your project, completing it becomes a challenge. If you do manage to finish, it’s usually driven by the memories of the countless hours spent on the project and the love that developed through hard work and constant engagement, leaving you with a sense of obligation to see it through.
Finish the damn product already.
Complete the project because of what it originally meant to you. When you first had the idea for the product/project, it was for a lofty and lovely reason.
Something you wanted your creativity to inspire, maybe someone in need of a happiness boost. The digital project was for the greater good, even if you can’t remember or articulate what that is.
I hit submit, and in doing so, I fulfilled what I had promised: moving forward into the New Year, I’d begin submitting dozens of creative projects, collecting virtual dusk in virtual space.
I’m boldly submitting digital content on thriving platforms , platforms that helped me diversify and create decent mini micro streams of income.
Platforms that brought me joy by allowing me to share my creativity, earn an income stream, and help thousands.
Today I started my New Beginning with Skillshare. I’m excited and nervous.
Have you rekindled any creative projects, and if so, how’s it going?”
