This lovely adaptogen is a common Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herb known for immune support properties, infections, poor appetite and energy deficiencies.

If you are in a winter location, astralagus is a common first choice in TCM for fighting colds and viruses (not COVID).

Here is a wonderful Chai Recipe with Astralagus

2 T astralagus powder or 10–15 slices of the root 10 slices Chinese licorice root 2 T ginger root 2 T dried orange peel 1 T sweet cinnamon chips 1 t white peppercorns 1–2 cardamom pods 3–5 allspice berries 3–5 cloves

Combine ingredients in sauce pot with 1.5 quarts (946 ml) water.

Bring to boil. Turn heat down. Simmer for one hour.

Strain.

Add milk and sweetener of choice.
