Why do we need spirituality
Two reasons to support my claim

Disclaimer: This story, in no way, is meant to hurt anyone’s feelings and sentiments. I do not claim to have any extraordinary spiritual knowledge, but I present here my understanding of spirituality. If you are intolerant of reading different perspectives, please do not proceed further.
We all know the world we live in and its impact on our lives. By using our intellectual minds and reasoning prowess, we have solved many mysteries engulfing us. We have profound knowledge of almost everything ranging from the vast space to the tiniest microorganisms.
Yet, there are still many questions that need to be addressed like “who am I, what is my true nature, what is my role on earth, knowledge about the creator, etc”.
We have tried different concepts to quench the inner thirst, but have failed.
Here I present to you, two reasons why we need spirituality than anything else.
Reason №1: Science has its limitations
If we look from the science perspective, it has been successful in providing us invaluable information in the sector of genetics, biology, and medicine, electronics, aeronautics, computer advancements, and many more. Moreover, science had equipped us with analytical and objective modes of thinking.
Besides, science has made tremendous development explaining the anatomy, physiology, and chemistry of the body, that we had not known before.
But at the same time, science has not been able to solve the riddle of life and the cosmos or the mystery of the conscious being for whom these scientific comforts have been devised. Though science has all the answers for the process of replication and reproduction, it has failed to explain for whom this all works and what is the meaning and purpose of life.
Hence, there has to be something else that can help us solve the puzzle of our existence.
Reason №2: We Misunderstood the Religion
The main aim of each religion was to explain to us our real identity as different from the physical reality. It has also beautifully explained the relationship between beings and God. Every religion had made successful efforts in liberating us from our sufferings and helped us enjoy a better existence.
Moreover, religion has taught us to live with a code of conduct for our peaceful sustenance. I believe that all religions have preached peace, love, humanity, and service. In fact, many religious leaders have successfully used scientific concepts to support their religious beliefs and satisfy our true needs.
Despite this, many of us have misunderstood the gist of religion. Owing to our selfish egos, we used religion as a weapon to establish supremacy over others. Also, we even set boundaries in our society based on skin color, introducing caste systems.
Furthermore, we, in the name of religion fought wars by manipulating our religious preachings to serve our selfish purposes.
Hence, there is a missing dimension of our understanding of reality, that forced us to twist the pure religious ideologies.
Why only Spirituality?
Today, based on our reasoning abilities and analytical skills, we need knowledge that is backed by science and religion, philosophy, and our understanding. We need something that has a scientific touch with an element of faith.
Moreover, the knowledge must be logical and pragmatic collaborating our historical facts, geographical statistics, philosophical beliefs, health sciences, psychological theorems, and social sciences.
And hence, spirituality is inevitable.
Here are some of the facts about spirituality, that I know and that we need to understand to realize its need.
- Spirituality is not a religion and hence it is free from any prejudices as it provides an insight into the nature of consciousness.
- It combines the findings of science and religion to give us an integrated vision of truth and our true personality.
- It does not accept the rituals and traditions that can not be proved or found useful in its application.
- It only explains the relationship between the man and his creator without any inhibitions and biases.
- It explains the concepts and laws of metaphysics, that has been failed by science to explain and prove, giving an ethical base to life.
- It inspires us not only to liberate ourselves from all evil vices but also empowers us to fulfill our social obligations with much more perfection. So those who say spirituality is for saints is a wrong judgment about spirituality.
- Spirituality can change our mind’s blaming attitude and our extreme sensual cravings, by giving us a pure mind and intellect to gain control over our sensory and physical organs.
- The practice of spiritual meditation can free us from our worldly tensions and worries.
- Spiritual knowledge can impart tranquility and equipoise to solve our life problems by teaching us moral and human values.
- It can even appeal to the atheists and non-religious believers for its message of love, peace, and purity of mind.
Takeaways
Though there might be more different choices for us to choose from, right now, I think, spirituality is the only way to make our lives peaceful. In addition, it answers all the questions about our existence.
It can help us in:
Relationships: It helps us love one another by teaching us true awareness of ourselves.
Healthier choices: It encourages us to adopt a healthy lifestyle by shunning bad practices like drinking, smoking, committing crimes, anti-social activities, etc
Live Peacefully: Spiritual Meditation can be used to deal with anxiety and live peaceful lives.
Become Mentally Strong: By incorporating spirituality in our daily practices, we can overcome our mental weaknesses and gain control over our physical organs.
Spirituality can do more than what I have mentioned here, as a result of which I can vouch for it.
If you do have any more solutions, other than spirituality, to deal with our daily problems, please do share with me and others to live a peaceful and happy life.
