Nature’s Wonderful Sense of Irony
Wake up: We’re all one and the same — Henerey X Challenge.

“Nature itself is the best physician.”
– Hippocrates
So, what is the Doctor telling us today?
Have we been good? Sorry, I know that sounds a little like Santa Claus, but Mother Nature has some skin in this game and she can ask the same questions. Have we been good today?
Have we thought of others? Been kind? Treated others with respect, regardless of what they might have looked like, sounded like, or reminded us of?
Have we been learning lately? Making that effort to look around and see where we can improve?

Nothing like the giant being taken down by the stone. We (the people of earth) have been having our asses kicked for the past 100 days by a creature we can’t even see and I am seriously anxious to find out what we have learned about humility. What is our collective takeaway from 100 days of fear and apprehension? Grief and panic, loss and anxiety are not the exact “roommates” we would have chosen for our Isolation Challenger, but there they are. Whispering and shouting in turn. Taking us to tasks for something we think we may have done, but aren’t all that clear on the specifics.
Have we become so numb that we don’t equate raging signs of protest with actions that we may be committing?
Saw a clip from a Costco on YouTube or the news, can’t remember where — too much input to make that call. Man, not wearing a mask inside the store and being challenged by an employee who was. Was being asked to Mask Up or leave. Responded with: Thought I woke up in a free country this morning?
Free Country. Is that what we will be celebrating this Monday — Memorial Day. The right to wave our Idiot Flag proudly? To ignore the obvious, that personal freedom, sometimes, just sometimes, must be trumped by the safety of others and the greater good. Hasn’t sacrifice already been sufficiently pounded into our collective minds by now, that we can see through the mists of prejudice and selfishness?
Nature may be pissed off — would we blame her if she was? We’ve ignored her signs and warnings, as diligently and gleefully as we did the economic ones leading up to the Shitstorm of 2008. Have we become so numb that we don’t equate raging signs of protest with actions that we may be committing?
What does Nature have to do to get our attention?
But I am hopeful. I have to be. The alternative is too depressing. Who wants to live in an endless replay of Groundhog Day, where we get to see the same moments of fiscal foolishness, political depravity and spiritual bankruptcy, while the cheerleaders dance in the foreground, pointing to the Dow Jones and screaming out — — GO TEAM!
I believe in Nature. I believe she is a resilient and tenacious bitch who will do whatever it takes to protect the land she has been endowed with. She knows what’s best. We don’t even have to do all that much thinking about it. Just watch and learn and do what she’s been telling us.
Okay, so she hasn’t put out a video on YouTube and to my knowledge she’s not on Twitter, Instagram or Pinterest. But come on people, I think she’s been clear enough for a long time now.

We are all one and the same, and if we get that point straight, if we all collectively sigh and take in a deep cleansing breath and realize that, then there’s a whole lot of time and effort and mental gymnastics that we can now do away with and apply all that energy towards something else.
I take it back, Nature did put out a documentary some time back, that I saw again recently. It was all about the Earthy version of Adam and Eve.
About two real live characters, born in Africa, some millions of years ago, and from whom, all of Mankind grew out of. Two creatures: Male and Female, responsible for all those who came after. Amazing.
After all the centuries of bickering and finger pointing and cultural upheavals surrounding the question about who is best, who is least, and who deserves more, we already have our answer and it’s a doozy.
We are all the same.
No matter what we look like or sound like or think about ourselves, we all came from the same place.
Mother knows best.
