Nature’s Edifice
If the world crumbles

Shopping malls of consumerism Skyscrapers of economic gain Churches of religious piety Structures of society
Shows of pride In never ending towers Of concrete jungles And walls stretching for miles
If it all crumbled…
If no walls were left standing But the walls of hedge and ivy If no skyscrapers remained But the redwoods shooting high If no church buildings existed But the sanctuary of nature
What would life be like then? What would we be like then?
If the capitalism edifice of inequality and consumerism and greed crumble and fall
May the edifice of mother earth rise in equality and abundance and generosity for all
This is a response to LB’s never ending-poem prompt, Edifice. I was tagged and linked into the chain (which according to Medium myth, can be traced to Martin Rushton). I felt compelled to join in after reading the poem LB wrote called Why the Man-Child Roams:
To keep the never ending poem going strong, I am inviting ten more poets to join in by writing a piece with the theme of…Serendipity. I am inviting: Zachary Burres, FILZA CHAUDHRY, Ryan Seny, Caroline Ryder, Dakota Wienges, Manasi Diwakar, Ravyne Hawke, Amy Marley, Randy Shingler, and Manan Shah.
I hope you will join in and write a poem using the theme of Serendipity, then come up with a new prompt theme and tag 10 poets to continue the Never-Ending Poem.
