I am grateful for so many things. Historically, or for the last several years, November has been a month where I reflect on gratitude for so many reasons. The biggest reason is that I have found that living life in gratitude is like renewing your faith in the world and yourself daily. It is easy to see what you appreciate in others. It is far more difficult to proclaim what you appreciate about yourself. In fact, it is only as an adult that I can step into appreciating me. Growing up, I learned that self praise was no praise and that you’d only break your arm patting yourself on the back. It takes time and healing to appreciate yourself and your good qualities. Although, for me, it is not easy, it is possible. For this, I am grateful.

Resilience: I am grateful for my ability to bounce back, to rise from the ashes, recreate myself, and live again. Resilience, to me does not mean that I am able to simply survive or endure the hard times. It means finding the beauty and the positive in the mayhem and letting it pull me out of the crushing waves that life throws at us. It reminds me that hope does, indeed, float and that it is something to hang onto until you can see the light of better days. Resilience is not waiting until the bad stuff goes away. Unconditional Love: It took me a long time to realize that it is possible to love unconditionally and still keep boundaries.
