My Word for 2021 Is ‘Light’
What’s yours?
A few years ago, I started choosing my personal Word of the year, where I choose and use a specific word to guide me throughout that year. It felt much easier to keep realigning to a specific word, rather than to set S.M.A.R.T. goals and try to achieve them by end of each year.
How the word Consistency helped me in 2020
Last year, in 2020, I set the word Consistency as a way to start building mastery in my part-time business as an intuitive healer and new author. This word served me so well in the midst of lockdown and fears of being heavily impacted by the pandemic. It has helped me to balance between caring for myself, my family, and my business.
For myself, I continued to take dance classes online and share some of my intuitive dances online to inspire more friends with more joy. Dancing more seems to help me stay warm and friendly, instead of cold and grumpy like I sometimes feel when I get overwhelmed.
For my family, I accept that I am not the only caregiver of my kids. Instead of drowning myself in guilt, I chose to feel more grateful for my husband for spending more time with our kids now that he’s at home a lot more due to the travel ban. Whenever I find myself disengaging too much from our kids, I would reconnect to them through hugs and games.
For my spiritual and heart-based business, I managed to strengthen and clarify my message on Gentleness through sharing more about my first book published in 2019, several interviews with fellow artists, healers, writers, and teachers who I lovingly refer to as Gentleness Ambassadors, and a little poetry book I titled: From the Womb of Gentleness.
How the word Light will guide me in 2021
I chose the word Light for several meanings:
- To feel light-hearted instead of being too serious and dull. 2020 was filled with depressing worldwide events and I realized that the best way I can help my loved ones and myself is to keep my heart and spirit light so I don’t get drowned in life’s drama.
- To keep moving my body in beautiful ways (intuitive dance) so my body feels lighter physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I recently invested in ordering a pair of beautiful hand-dyed silk fans and will be learning some beautiful fan-flow techniques from my talented friend, Betty Kang. I’m amazed by how she would bring her fan props everywhere and do her beautiful and meditative fan-flow dances.
