My Weekend Getaway: Day 2-Day 3: Tianguis-Apizaco-Guelaguetza
Hey, I’m back to share the next chapter of my ongoing adventure — venturing out on a solo trip.

On the second day of my journey, I embarked on an exploration of the Tianguis in Tlaxcala. This vibrant market always beckons to me, from the colorful vegetables and fruits that please my eyes, to the pungent aroma of local food that tickles my nose, to the vendors with their melodic chants vying for attention to choose their stall over the others.

Then I went to the most unique church I’d ever seen, which is within a 45-minute drive from where I stay. This chapel, nestled among a lovely landscape filled with lush greenery, had a design like that of a magnificent boat, which attracted my interest. It charged me 5 Pesos for a ticket. Within the walls, I found myself meandering around two captivating expositions that provided insight into the local culture, as well as stunning scenery from the top.

Before heading towards Apizaco, I made a quick stop at a nearby lake. The scenery was lovely, but the presence of numerous stray dogs put a bittersweet shade over it, a poignant reminder of the diverse tapestry of life that graces even the most tranquil of surroundings.

Then I continued on my journey to Apizaco, only to be met by a sudden downpour that turned the city center into a water-painted canvas. Seeking comfort in a charming café, I ordered an Oreo cheesecake slice and a hot cup of coffee, their comforting embrace becoming my companion as I waited for the rain to stop.
The next day, it’s time to head back to Mexico City. But fate had different ideas for me when I heard about the Feria Chiautempan and its Guelaguetza performance. The appeal of this celebration proved strong, forcing me to postpone my return. When I arrived at the place, I didn’t notice the hectic preparations for this event. I assumed I’d made a mistake. It was 4 p.m., and visitors began to show up, but nothing happened on stage. Everyone was perplexed because the poster had promised a performance at 4 p.m. People come and go.

An hour past the appointed hour, the festivities finally burst forth at 5 p.m. While the show was going on, it was interrupted by heavy rain mixed with icy parts. But you know what? It didn’t diminish their enthusiasm. The visitors’ delight was uninterrupted as they marveled at the magnificent spectacle before them.
