My Unforgettable Birthday Weekend in Seattle with Gabriel
The best midnight surprise by my love
The clock had barely struck 12 when I heard a soft knock on my apartment’s door. I opened it to find Gabriel — my boyfriend — holding a bouquet bursting with fresh flowers and a box I immediately recognised: it was my favourite cheesecake.
But the surprises didn’t end there. After I was done cutting the cake and blowing out the candles, Gabriel handed over another surprise — two tickets to Seattle. I was excited and anxious at the same time as we had a flight to catch in just four hours!
Panicking Packing Session
I glanced at my wardrobe, thinking about everything I’d need for our Seattle escape. With the clock ticking, I grabbed my coziest coats, soft sweaters, and puffy jackets. Each item seemed essential for the chilly Seattle weather.
Gabriel jumped in to help, and we quickly sorted through my outfits, adding matching jewelry and makeup. His calming presence turned the chaotic situation into fun. Our bags were packed within no time, and we were ready to go.
Seattle Arrival and First Moments
The hum of the airplane slowly faded as we landed in Seattle. A wave of excitement washed over me. The city lights shimmered in the distance, promising an unforgettable weekend ahead. We grabbed our bags and hailed a cab, eager to reach our hotel.
As we rode through the city, I pressed my face against the window, soaking in the views. The iconic Seattle skyline, with its towering skyscrapers and the famous Space Needle, stood tall against the early morning sky. Gabriel squeezed my hand, sharing in anticipation of our adventures to come.
By the time we reached our hotel, dawn was painting the sky with shades of orange and pink. We checked in and headed to our room, the tiredness from our journey sinking in. After our nap, I decided to layer up for the afternoon. Seattle’s cool breeze called for it. Once dressed, I stepped out to find Gabriel already waiting; his eyes lit up as he complimented my look. We were both ready, eager to dive into the city’s vibrant pulse.
Our first stop was a bustling local eatery. The aroma of fresh food wafted through the air, drawing us in. We shared plates of delicious local dishes, our laughter mingling with the chatter around us. Then, we decided to go some shopping.
The afternoon flew by as we hopped from one shop to another, collecting little treasures along the way. We wrapped up our spree with a movie, immersing ourselves in a cinematic world while relishing the day’s real-life adventures. By the time the credits rolled, we were more than content with our day out in the city.
Evening Serenade
Returning to our hotel room, an enchanting scene awaited. Our balcony had transformed. White tulips— my absolute favourite — were everywhere, their delicate fragrance filling the air. The soft glow of candles created a magical ambiance. Gabriel had outdone himself with this surprise.
In the centre of this floral wonderland stood a table for two. It was laden with dishes that made my mouth water: sushi rolls, creamy alfredo pasta, grilled chicken dressed in Moroccan sauce, and fizzy soda. Gabriel, with a twinkle in his eyes, pulled out a chair for me. We sat, ate, and lost ourselves in conversations; the world outside faded away.
After our delightful meal, Gabriel played our song, “Perfect,” by Ed Sheeran. Hand in hand, we danced under the stars. Every note, every lyric resonated with the perfect evening he had crafted. As the music ebbed, I realized this was more than just a birthday treat.
Adventure Beckons
The morning sun greeted us with a promise of adventure. Gabriel handed me a brochure revealing the day’s plan: trekking through some of Seattle’s most scenic trails. My heart raced with excitement. While I loved our relaxed moments, the idea of an active day outdoors was thrilling.
We started at a trailhead that was surrounded by towering trees. Each step took us deeper into nature. The path had its challenging moments, with steep climbs and tricky descents, but Gabriel and I helped each other, making the journey even more enjoyable.
Hours flew by, and we were rewarded with breathtaking views of Seattle and the vast expanse beyond when we reached a lookout point. Taking a moment to catch our breath, we sat down, snacking and soaking in the beauty around us. The trek was not just about the destination but the journey and the bond we strengthened along the way.
Heading Back Home
Our Seattle adventure was coming to an end, but our hearts were full. As we packed our bags, each item held a memory. Soon, we were back at the airport; boarding passes in hand.
I rested my head on Gabriel’s shoulder, reminiscing about the weekend. The surprises, the laughter, and challenges felt like a dream.
Touching down in Chicago, the familiar sights and sounds welcomed us. We stepped out of the airport, hand in hand, grateful for the time spent together and eagerly looking forward to our next adventure.
