My Ultimate New Year’s Resolution: Manifesting Goals and Dreams in 2022

First, I must say, 2021 was a rocky year with a lot of pitchforks on the road. I say pitchfork because a fork, these days, is usually easier for me to get around. In my downtime, I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting and have recalled some lessons I learned.
- Don’t go after your dreams until you’re 100% prepared and ready.
- Let your heart or body heal if it’s been through a trauma. (Don’t dive back into work too quickly).
- The consequences of the cart before the horse.
A few days ago, I wrote up this piece about how self-reflection and visualization prompt manifestations in Coffee Times. If you want to actually carry out your resolutions and see results, you must self-reflect and visualize at the same time.
Self-reflection is the process of revisiting areas in our lives that may need improvement or more attention.
Visualization is the process of picturing what the future may hold and then setting up a realistic game plan to achieve such goals.
While I’m not big on resolutions, there is one I’ll be making:
- Stop doing things that no longer serve me or are a disservice to me.
I believe that to be healthy and well, it helps to apply yourself and take notable action. However, I have health issues by default, and in 2021, I found myself rushed to the emergency room more than three times.
Two of the times were caused by long-haul Covid, which I’m continuing to battle. So far, I’m winning, but I have a lot more health investigations underway that’ll illuminate other lingering mysteries I’ve been eager to uncover. Long-haul Covid, to say the least, has really put me through the wringer.
Covid, itself, cost me a lot of setbacks, even forcing me to reschedule a surgery I needed back in August when I tested positive for the virus.
For three to four months here, I’ve been in a spiral and angry with myself for catching the virus. But, I realized that it was inevitable that I was going to catch it. After all, I’m a high-risk individual which also means I’m a moving target for everything.
Another thing I’ve been practicing is letting go — letting go of anything of the past. Being creative has allowed me to be successful at that. Letting go of the past was my biggest challenge this year, but 2022 is looking so very bright for me, and am ready to move on from any unnecessary fears, stressors, and burdens I can no longer tolerate carrying.
Whenever I have a negative thought regarding the past, I immediately change it to a positive. Then, I actually do something to alter my mindset. Art and being creative have been my outlets for overcoming life’s craziest obstacles, and I’ve been through my share of them.
I live with the genetic disorder, 22Q; if you’re not familiar with the condition, check it out here and get to know it. I walked around for twenty-four years not knowing I had this disorder and anybody can have it. It’s the most common syndrome next door to Downs syndrome.
Though I’ve had a difficult life with this condition, this last year made me realize how grateful I am for the adversity I’ve faced. This is how I’m making the most of each moment, by being grateful for the abilities I’ve been given and using them to my fullest capacity.
In 2022, I’ll be focusing on maintaining a mindset where I’m regularly practicing gratefulness and applying the abilities I have to create more positive and wonderful experiences.
Concluding Thoughts
The month of December, the winter season is the perfect time to reflect on the recent past and visualize where you want to be in the future. Think about the lessons you’ve learned in the pursuit of your goals and dreams and how they’ve benefited or worked against you.
To change anything in your life, you must do a full self-evaluation and actually map out how you plan to go forward. It helps to set realistic daily goals and write out a checklist of what you’d like to accomplish that day. Journaling and being intentional with my words have given me new insights into the ways I can improve my health and overall wellness.
