My Turtle’s Joy Is Contagious

November Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Happiness”

Seeing her happy makes me happy.

When I put my box turtle, T, in the grass on a warm day, I see her change. She “takes off her turtleneck sweater,” stretching her head towards the sky. As she surveys the yard, I see her neck moving as she breathes. She gets a brightness in her brown eyes. I really feel like she’s smiling — in her own way.

Despite the fact that I have hundreds of photos of T, I can rarely resist adding more when I see how cheerful she looks when she’s outside. And I can’t resist smiling, because when she’s happy, I’m happy, too.

Thanks to Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles for this prompt!
