My Top Music of 2021, As Revealed By Spotify Wrapped

A peek into my weird, wonderful, and kinda lit music listening habits of 2021

It’s the most wonderful time of the year — when everyone’s favorite big brother, Spotify, delivers their highly-anticipated Spotify Wrapped to all the good little boys and girls.

Spotify Wrapped is a wrap-up of the data they’ve mined from y — I mean a cute lil’ shareable story of your music listening habits that you can share with the world.

Jokes aside, I’m a certified music nerd and oversharer. I love this kind of stuff; I can’t even front. Just as big brother Spotify would want it, I’m sharing the highlights of my Spotify Wrapped with all you beautiful people.

Along with my top five artists and top five songs, I’m sharing some honorable mentions of 2021 that you might have missed this year.

Top 5 Artists

1. Megan Thee Stallion

2. J. Cole

3. BROCKHAMPTON

4. Isaiah Rashad

5. Jack Harlow

For me, 2021 was the year of Jack Harlow. So, it says a lot that he’s number five on this list, along with artists that I’ve been listening to for a lot longer. But yeah — spot on list.

Top 5 Songs

1. Lay Wit Ya (feat. Duke Deuce) — Isaiah Rashad

2. BANKROLL (feat. A$AP Rocky & A$AP Ferg) — BROCKHAMPTON

3. Leave the Door Open — Bruno Mars, Anderson .Paak, Silk Sonic

4. LAW OF AVERAGES — Vince Staples

5. BIG BANK (feat. 2 Chainz, Nicki Minaj, Big Sean) — YG

It is hilarious that a three-year-old song, YG’s “BIG BANK”, is in my top five of the entire year. I really do love that song. It’s timeless. And, that Nicki verse is crazy. WE MISS YOU NICKI!!

Honorable Mentions of 2021

These songs weren’t in my top 5— but I’ve loved them this past year.

1. Luv Is Dro (feat. Static Major & Bryson Tiller) — Jack Harlow

2. Guessing Games — Dev Lemons, Whose Games

3. Hello Baby (feat. Fivio Foreign) — Young M.A.

4. Ex For A Reason (ft. JT From City Girls) — Summer Walker

5. Peng Black Girls Remix (feat. Jorja Smith) — ENNY
