My Top Article Was Uncurated, and I’m Pissed
What’s going on Medium?

In May 2021, I wrote an article that absolutely boosted my confidence on Medium. Then, out of the blue, it made its way up to 26k views and over 15k reads.
The single article brought in nearly $450 of revenue, 200 new followers, and 200 new followers on my personal publication.
I’ve been keeping an eye on it to see how it performs lately, and what do you know? It’s uncurated and only racked up 1 minute of reading time in the past two days.
Medium killed my article. It made its way into curation, made me lots of money, made me happy, and then got ripped away out of nowhere.
If the curators or Medium didn’t think I would notice, they are sadly mistaken.
Why hype up writers for doing a good job and fitting the Medium mesh for curation just to rip it away when we least expect it?
I’m honestly hurt because I’ve been on the platform for quite some time — made no adjustments to the article, and got punished for no reason.

This article was curated for nearly two months before I noticed.

Because of the uncuration, my earnings for this particular story have dropped drastically. It’s not all about the money, but when you do something “right” and then get back-stabbed, it’s not a great feeling.
Final Thought
I understand that it’s Medium’s platform, and they can do as they please, but being uncurated was so uncool. I don’t think I deserved it since I’ve been such a loyal writer and basically had nothing but good things to say about the platform.
If you’re someone who has a viral article, keep an eye on it.
Nothing stays certain after this stunt. Until then, I’ll keep on keeping on.
