Top Seven of my Poetry Contents with Background Stories
For Poetry Enthusiasts

As mentioned by Dr Mehmet Yildiz in one of the writing challenges in ILLUMINATION, I am arranging this content to list my top 7 poetry contents in this form. I love how thoughts can fuse with words, and that’s why most of the materials I have written in Medium are poetry.
I was reviewing to finalize my favorite ones, and then I realized it isn’t easy to do. Choosing the favorite among your created ones are always challenging and sometimes heartbreaking. Some of my favorites couldn’t be mentioned here because I wanted to limit it within number 7. As I progress, my favorite list will change (which I will try to update frequently).
The following ones are my favorites from my written poetic thoughts. Definitely, in no particular order.
Publication: ILLUMINATION.
Background story
I read a couple of articles in the morning and then went out for a morning walk, where the colors of nature sparked my mind. Little squirrels were running here and there, the greenery and the flowers (blooming). After coming back home, I opened my notebook to put some words for writing later. But, the content came as one piece, titled ‘Nature’s Guitar’. I also wanted to make it a prompt to see the fantastic works of other poets, so I tagged a couple of fellow poets on the prompt. I enjoyed their words and expressions on nature.

Background story
One particular day, I had some reminiscence of past traumatic memories. I was thinking about the mask people wear to hide their real identity or feeling. So, the theme emerged, and the words being put to express the feeling.
Publication: ILLUMINATION.
Background story
This poem was written based on the ‘relationship’ and ‘love’ theme. Once completed, I submitted the content to a publication, and somehow it didn’t go through. But I thought that the words expressed have merits somehow, so I decided to publish it. The funny thing is that the poetry was later curated under poetry, and the first publication editor also expressed their interest in publishing the poem; however, it was already published.
Publication: The POM.
Background story
Due to pandemic and different personal issues, the month of July was stressful for me. I stopped writing for around 10–12 days because of the mental pressure being felt at that time. However, my family stood firm behind and supported to overcome the frustration. During that time, I put some words in regards to that and decided to edit the piece, once the frustrating time passed. This poem is special to me, as in the last line — I had the gut to say that I shall overcome the scenario. Also, this is the first poem I have recorded in my voice.
Publication: Blue Insights.
Background story
I love tea, even though I drink coffee a lot nowadays. On any given day, I would prefer tea over coffee (coffee lovers, don’t kill me!). So, when prompted to write about a tea or coffee prompt, I choose morning tea. Ah! I love my morning tea.
Publication: ILLUMINATION.
Background story
This one is one of my favorites because I wanted to write on the prompt challenges; however, I lagged in July. So, I decided to make one content, with 4 prompted themes- ‘Favourite Season,’ ‘Awakening,’ ‘Woods,’ and ‘Typical Bengali Morning.’ I tried my best, though.
Publication: ILLUMINATION.
Background story
This was written based on a religious viewpoint- soul mingling with its creator. It might be true; it might not be accurate. But sometimes, you have to express the feelings you are bearing in that particular moment. As ‘The captive entity holds onto the form of life,’ the emotions and realizations always change with time, right!
Footnote
I have chosen the poems based on my viewpoint, so I didn’t mention some of the poetry pieces with higher reads, or higher claps. Satisfaction matters!
