My Top 3 Unusual Holiday Movies
“You serious Clark?”
There’s a meme going around that says there are 2 kinds of people:
- People who believe “Die Hard” is a Christmas movie
- People who are wrong.
Whichever one you are, you gotta admit it’s a funny meme.
So here’s the first-ever list of my top 3 unusual holiday movies:
3. Die Hard
Bruce Willis flying with a stuffed bear. Million-dollar Christmas party. A wee bit of action. And a few sequels.
What’s not to love?
Famous Lines: “Welcome to the party pal!”
And the ever-popular “Yippee Ki Yay M………..”
2. Lethal Weapon
Opens with “Jingle Bell Rock.” Mel Gibson and Gary Busey in a final fight surrounded by Christmas lights. And a few sequels.
Famous Lines: “You wanna jump!?!”
“A lot people have got problems especially during the silly season like now.”
- Christmas Vacation
A determined middle-class Dad determined to have his family enjoy “The Griswald Family Dysfunction.”
No sequels that I know of…
My youngest son has Chevy Chases’ rant at the end memorized. I’m so proud.
So many great lines:
“If I woke up tomorrow with my head sewn to the carpet, I wouldn’t be more surprised.”
“Take a look around you, Ellen! We’re at the threshold of hell!!”
And my favorite: “You serious Clark?”
Most memorable song: “Mele Kalikimaka” which is my Holiday ring tone and text tone. When it goes off in public, you immediately know who the Christmas Vacation fans are ;-)
