POETRY ON MEDIUM WITH THE HOUSE OF HAIKU

My Sister Has Strength of Character Like No Other

Thanks, Deborah Christensen & the House of Haiku for the Tanka/Haiku prompt “strength.”

Photo by Nathan Dumlao on Unsplash

This coffee is strong! I think my sister is strong, and I am not wrong. However, her caffeine is

intestinal fortitude.

We were prompted to “…write a haiku or tanka this week using the prompt word ‘strength’ or ‘strong’ (or a derivative) or on the theme of strength.”

When I think of strong people, there is no one, man or woman, stronger than my sister Cindy. She has kicked cancer’s ass twice, had a kidney transplant years ago, and has lived with insulin injections for decades.

Through it all, she has maintained a pleasant, always helpful personality, and a rich smile that will warm any room. I love you, sis!

If you enjoyed this, take two minutes to read these others.
